A pretty, golden-haired child actress of the late '20s, Jane La Verne (born Mary Jane Kuntzman) was discovered while visiting Universal City with her mother. According to little Jane's official studio bio, light comedian Reginald Denny spotted her mimicking him and she was signed to a contract. Her brief screen career, which began in 1926, culminated with her playing both Magnolia as a child and little Kim in the first screen version of Show Boat (1929). It was apparently also her final film appearance. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi
