Actors -  Myles McCarthy

A distinguished, silver-haired character actor from Canada, Myles McCarthy had toured extensively under the management of Charles Frohman and Charles B. Dillingham prior to making his New York stage debut in A Race Tout's Dream in 1908. On screen from the early 1910s with such pioneering companies as Selig, Thanhouser, and Vitagraph, McCarthy specialized in playing villains but was quite heroic as the drug-addicted attorney kicking the habit in order to defend his daughter on a murder charge in Fear Not (1917). McCarthy, whose declared pastimes included "horseback riding and literary pursuits," died of a heart attack. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi
