Fans of Whedon will recognize his ever-present and underlying themes here from other projects. In my mind, Joss can do almost no wrong at this point and he's as close to a sure-thing as it gets as far as storytelling and quasi-esoteric exposition goes. Although, a certain menopausal actress is painfully miscast as the "Director" and brings the overall quality of the film down for me during its final minutes but it doesn't erase all the good feelings that preceded it. Full price...

I've never been a fan of Joss Whendon`s TV efforts. Bufffy or Angel. Let me sort of retract that. I mean I can only that so much of his comedy/horror mix. This film reminded me of a Buffy episode where the government was putting chip in monsters. I guess you have to be a fan of this sort of genre to like this film. I didn`t hate it but obviously didn`t find it as entertaining as you all did. i didn`t laugh once in this movie. Yeah the idea for the main plot is clever, but let`s not oversell it. Maybe I`m old fashioned. I don`t think you have to sell your soul to fight evil. Something Josh Whedon seems to whorle-heartedly believes. I canlte only one that felt this film was a low rental, since (the powers that be) shelf this picture for four year.

I'm not even a fan of the horror genre as a whole, just the zombie genre XD  But this movie, it's actually the only horror movie I've ever seen at the movie theater because of what I've heard about it.  When I first heard of this film, it's trailer and premise.  I felt it was just another day another pointless horror flick (how I feel about A LOT of horror movies).  But then I heard what this movie was really about, saw it, and I just loved it because of the zombie family being picked, the self awareness, the comedy, and the final climax which felt like a horror buddy comedy since all the other referenced monsters from other horror moves were all brought together in their own personal Avengers horror movie.  Joss Whedon's the shit XD

Why does everyone keep saying this defines the horror genre?? IT DOESN'T. This is a slasher film that points out the formulaic and predictable nature of the slasher genre. That's all it does. There is nothing groundbreaking, scary or interesting about this film. Completely disappointed at the spill crew, makes me think they don't know what true horror movies are about.

There are hundreds of psychological horror films that are so much better than this mediocre Hollywood, run of the mill, teenager slasher film. Don't bye into the hype, Cabin in the woods sucks.

Riddle I understand your concern, but not all franchise's have to stink. Especially with talented people like Joss Whedon behind the project. There so much that I'ld like to see explain from the mythology. I think we could get a decent trilogy out of this at least.

I've had sex too, Cyrus, and there have been times when it wasn't as thrilling as watching this movie was. My arms were tingling with excitement (not fear) when I walked out of the theater. The last movie I saw that gave me this much joy was Spider-Man 2. That was awhile ago.

And E.K. HaroooooooNAH - I disagree. No franchises. Think about how many horror movies started out as brilliant films and were ruined by endless sequels, prequels, and remakes: Halloween, Saw, A Nightmare on Elm Street, the list goes on and on. This movie has so many ideas that any sequel or prequel would feel like a scraping-the-bottom-of-the-barrel  lame stab that could only be second-rate. In the days of vaudville, the best acts were the ones that left the audience wanting more. Enjoy that feelign this movie gave you, but if you got more, it would only be a let-down.

Ok so now im officially an alien i guess [laughs] cuz i dont get the enthusiasm about this flick.

They need to franchise the fuck out of this. The prequel possiblities are endless. Different movie villain each instalment, and in different eras. 20's, 50's, 60's, 80's etc. Also I'ld like them to breakdown the origin. LDT!!!!!

Finally got to see it. And I gotta say, it shattered my expectations. I'm glad the spill crew warned me with their review, cause it definitely was worth it going in without a single clue. It did have some minor things that bugged me, but nothing that would ruin the experience or diminish it by any means whats-so-ever. The twists surprised me (I guessed a few, but still) and I found the ending to be damn near perfect. I personally would've liked a bit more effort/$ in some of the effects, but that's a nitpick. The small screen I saw it at certainly didn't do it justice. Really hard to talk about it without spoiling the thing, so I'm done. Time to enjoy the spill crews full review. FULL PRICE.

I mean, really, am I the only one who is surrounded by people who fucking hate the film, because I'm damn near going to lose friends behind this. I might whoops somebody's ass. "HEY MAN!!! YOUR TASTE IN MOVIES SUCK!!!" Let it go. Go back to your fucking Twilight films. This movie is best for people who like referential films. If you don't get the inside jokes, this isn't for you. At first I couldn't wait for my friends to see it so we can talk about it. Now, if they don't say shit to me, I won't say shit to them.

I'm SURROUNDED by people who say that the movie was so bad that they had to leave in the middle of the film!! AAARRGGGHHHH!!!!! I really should either keep my opinions to myself, or humble them. It's a niche film, I get it!! But when I ask "what you don't like about the film", don't tell me "EVERYTHING!!!", give me a fucking opinion!! Fuck it. I liked it, that's all that matters. I mean, I like this chick, she didn't even fucking like "Chronicle" but she fucking loves 'Twilight'...boy, if that head wasn't bomb....

I just got out of this movie and have to say, It's the best movie I've seen since The Dark Knight, for me personally, just everything about this movie was great, It was funny it was just an amazing concept, and it was just pulled off in every sense of the word. AND THE ENDING!!! Oh my God the ending was just phenomenal, just when you think it's about to be over it just gets better and better, and who the director was at the very end, just... Go see this movie right now, drop what you're doing and just go see it, you will not regret it, Better than Sex

I believe one may be disappointed if they paid to see this film expecting a typical scary horror flick. This film is really more a spoof of old horror cliches, but executed much more intelligently and with more originality than any previous horror spoof (not at all like the Scary Movie franchise).

i love crazy and new style movies. But this movie sucked, i almost got up and left, i counted six people that did, it was so slow at first, and the ending was a complete joke. this should have been on the sci-fi channel at midnight. Just my opinion.

Phurdrick, great comparison.  It's been so long since I saw The Cube that it was off my radar.  Was there ever an explanation at the end of that movie?

I thought it was a very good film for 2 thirds, but it became way over the top to the point you don't give a shit about the outcome, and it had a pretty crap ending.
