    As much as I agree that as a woman, I do like pretty boys like Zac Efron (I can't help it, it's the birth control), I don't get how people can defend the movies, or act like you're wrong in your rating, like some women in this thread have done.

    It's like how you bashed the Transformers films or Smokin' Aces - Sure, everyone just needs a stupid, no-brains action film to relax with, but there are non-shitty, stupid no-brain action films to watch. The same goes for this genre.

    Loling at people using the Transformers Defense for this movie anyways. "It's just a dumb, romance movie! Chill!"

    Personally, as a woman in her twenties, I find Nicholas Sparks' stories to be the lamest, most generic love stories on the market. I have no idea why my friends like these corny movies. Also, Zac Ephron is way too much of a pretty boy to interest me.

    Wow... we can all see that Cyrus says "God I love you CoHost" at the beginning to try and make up for him being a total bitch in that Lockout review.  Nice...

    @Longleke

    It was in fact Atonement that Carlyle absolutely loved.

    Rachel McAdams has only been in one Nicholas Sparks movie, probably the best one. The Vow is not one although it certainly looks like one.

    I'm a straight guy and I loved The Notebook. Didn't Carlyle too, or am I confusing that with Atonement?... He called one of them the best romantic film of the decade.

    It was a cute chick flick to watch with the girls. It's not deep or "special" BUT, it's a chick flick. It's not really suppose to be. You watch it for the cuteness and romance. It's like a Micheal Bay film for that inner girly girl. I didn't go in expecting a deep and intricate plot; I went in for something cute and mushy that's what I got. I loved it for that. Will I be watching it on repeat when it starts coming on Netflix? Probably not. But, I didn't regret the money spent on it. Besides, plot aside, I thought that the acting was great (from the main cast anyway). It was one of the things that kept me watching through the "plot development" stages of the film. That and the beautiful cinematography.

    That was my two cents. If you guys don't like mushy stuff then stay away. If  you do, check it out during the matinee.

    So, let me see if I have this straight - the main antagonist is a local cop whose father is the mayor, or something to that effect, but he is a drunk asshole who does whatever he pleases because nobody wants to get in trouble with daddy. Are you sure this was based on a book by Nicholas Sparks? Cause this sounds an awful lot like Stephen King :P

    Very good review. I had a feeling the film would be bad anyway. Not because of Nicholas Sparks, but I really can't stand Zac Efron.

    By the way, I know you guys don't get to review every film that comes out, but have any of you seen Keyhole or The Turin Horse? If so, what are your thoughts on those films? As of right now, The Turin Horse is my favorite film of the year, but very few people have seen it (unfortunately).

    Beg to differ V. Speak for yourself, not for all women. I hate this shit. I've never watched Nicholas Sparks' bullshit and never will. Though Zac Efron is hot, I'll just stare at pictures of him, or maybe photoshop him onto a naked guy and be done with it.

           *sigh* I wish I could say that I'll take your advice and not watch this shit. But there's like a voice inside most women that comes to us once a month and says, "You want to see this." And right now, it's getting me. I love and hate romantic comedies with a passion. Some are really good, "Maybe, definitely" and "Proposal" and some films from the forty's. As much as I don't want to see this movie, one time out of a month I'll go from "Hanna" and "Drive" and watch only romantic and shitty films. This is one of them. (Sorry, Three Stooges. I'll watch you later when my mind's returned.)

    Zac Efron needs to fire his agent for continually getting stuck in crappy roles. I believe the guy has actual acting chops but hardly ever gets to show it off. He needs to do some indie movies to get away from the spotlight of his core fan base.
