The russian brothers is a spin on the Kostitsyn brothers while they were playing for the Montreal Canadiens NHL team. One of them is still making headlines about his partying:

I remember the Hanson brothers in "Slapshot" being obnoxious but not douchey like that.

Great movie! Saw it months ago when it came out in Canada.

And no, hockey is not always as violent as potrayed in the movies, but it sure can be. Just check out some of the Philly Pittsburgh series from round one of the playoffs.

You guys should do yourselves a favour and drive up to Dallas next October to go see a Stars game. You might get a better understanding of the sport.

How can you guys not understand what's going on in hockey? That's not like understanding what's going on in soccer. At its absolute most basic, two teams trying to score by putting the puck in the net.

The only thing that might trip up a casual watcher is the icing rule and maybe some penalty calls but it's nowhere near as hard as trying to pick up something like baseball or American football which have so many different rules and subtleties.

I think the spill crew should bring in guest reviewers with sports movies, ones who know the sport. It would add an extra dimension in my opinion. But yeah, great review otherwise, might check this movie out.

You can't have a hockey movie about fighting without a team wearing orange and black.

For some reason I really like Sean William Scott, even though he's in a lot of mediocre to bad movies. Glad to hear this one is good, and rotten tomatoes seems to agree.

I've wanted to get into hockey, but it's just too freakin' slow for me.  I'll stick to NBA and NCAA.

I fuckin' loved this movie.  I give it a fuckin' FULL PRICE.  I hear what your saying about Jay Baruchel's character, but you got to give him credit for playing a different character.

first comment on the site. love your reviews.u guys crack me up.and mostly agree 100% of the time.as a french canadian hockey is a religion to us ,the french version of slapshot was huge here (just the first one)and the a third one that came out too with one of the baldwing brothers (the fat one)and also if you guys learn the rules of hockey you might enjoy it.it as almost the same intesity of football and almost the same amazing moves like in basketball.

cant wait for the next time i feel like putting my opinion up there

P.S. could it be possible to put an overall rating like you put in your video review.   ty
