Tim Burton has just annouce that there will not be a sequel to Dark Shadows because the ending with Dr. Julia Hoffman had more to do with the soap opera structure of the movie and it wasn't a conscious decision.

Even though I like sequels, I have to admit I'm glad that there won't be a sequel to Dark Shadows because I thought the movie worked great as a stand alone horror comedy movie.

I'm just speaking my mind mate I mean no harm to you  @Mark Stronghold. However I did love Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward scissors hands, and Todd that about it. Most of Mr. Burton movies are just okay to just terrible. But I am glad my lil bro Hector Fernando Andrade JR. II  had fun watching the movie.

I thought that Dark Shadows was a surprisingly fun, really funny, and sweet horror comedy movie based on the 1966 gothic horror soap opera Dark Shadows created by Dan Curtis, thanks to it's fun, really funny, and sweet story written by John August and Seth Grahame-Smith, fantastic and funny acting performances by Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, Michelle Pfeiffer as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Julia Hoffman, Eva Green as the villianous Angelique Bouchar, Jackie Earle Haley as Willy Loomis, Johnny Lee Miller as Roger Collins, Bella Heathcote as Victoria Winters, Chloe Grace Moretz as Carolyn Stoddard, Gulliver McGrath as David Collins and Ray Shirley as Mrs. Johnson, good and directing by Tim Burton, great music by Danny Elfman, awesome cinematography by Bruno Delbonnel, cool visuals and a nice message about a good and funny vampire helping a family who needed help getting their job and realationship back together.

If you are a fan of the 1966 gothic horror soap opera Dark Shadows created by Dan Curtis then you might not like the mixed of horror and comedy that this movie has, but if you like Tim Burton's movies staring Johnny Depp then you will probably like this horror comedy movie.

I give Dark Shadows a Full Price and I hope you enjoy Dark Shadows.

I get the impression Depp simply doesn't care too much anymore. After being married with kids he seems to be taking the easy road. I guess if film companies are still willing to pay you $20 mill + to do another sequel or average film, why wouldn't you take it? Its easy money for little effort.

If he seriously  wanted to break new ground or try something out of his comfort zone, he wouldn't continue to do film after film with Burton. Incidentally, Depp's two most popular characters he's gotten any acclaim for awhile are Rango and Jack Sparrow - both which have nothing to do with Tim Burton.

Maybe he should take that as a sign.

I'm with you  The Dork Knight Tim Burton and Johnny Depp need to see other people for real son. Beside I stop liking Mr. Burton when he made Alice in Wonderland. That killed my childhood of Alice and the story made no damn scene.

Also The Pirates do suck ass ever last one of them.

Woh Woh Woh.  Hold on there.  Take that back about Pirates

You would think that BY NOW, Tim Burton and Depp would realize people are getting really tired of seeing the both of them work together. I'm honestly sick of both of them. No I dont hate them or anything but what is Tim Burton doing lately? Several Edward Scissorhand sequels...what is Johnny Depp doing lately? more and more sequels. Literally the only movie I liked him in in the past several years is...Rango cause that was awesome, and a certain cameo he did which I wont even spoil. His movies with Tim Burton sucks (mostly) and Pirates suck (yes...they suck). PLEASE do something new...I know both of you can.

This might not get a lot of attention:

1: Avengers is out again this weekend. There's no way this will beat the Avengers in the box office.

2: People don't like this. None of the spillos likes it... and my Burton friends all said nay to this one, almost as if it was another star wars prequel or a fourth Matrix movie.

I've been tired of Tim Burton ever since Planet of the Apes. Not even Corpse Bride was enough to shake me out of my apathy. Big Fish and Sweeney Todd were ho-hum and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland were excrutiatingly dull. Still, two words mentioned during this review make me curious to see this: Alice Cooper.

My mom was a big fan of the show. She even named me after one of the minor characters. To bad the movie wasn't all that but it's still gonna make money becuz of Johnny Depp.

When I saw the trailer, I rolled my eyes and thought, "Oh look. It's a Tim Burton film with Johnny Depp in eyeliner... AGAIN." I used to like Tim Burton, but he pretty much is a parody of himself now, and I'm really sick and tired of his little tropes. I love Edward Scissorhands and TNBC (as overrated as all hell it is), and I like his artwork, but I've mostly given up hope on him making a good film again. I want to be hopeful for Frankenweenie, but I'm just expecting Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter to pop up on the cast list for no reason at all except "BECAUSE MALLGOTHS LOVE US". And if that's the case, then I'm done with Burton altogether.

Tim Burton doesn't make movies anymore, he makes hour-long HotTopic commercials. Wasted potential.

Honestly, if everyone ignores those movies, they might just disappear.

But seriously, fuck those guys :(

I only saw the remake tv show from 1991 that starred Ben Cross (Sarek from Star Trek 2009) as Barnabas.  It was an evening soap like Dynasty or Dallas.  I actually liked it and remember being upset because the show was cancelled and ended on a cliff-hanging resolution to the season's main story arch.
