Man, I knew the film wouldn't be as good, but...DAMN!! That's REALLY bad. Now I'm glad I saw "That's My Boy" instead. And I actually LIKED that film!

    Jerry,

The fact that you come up with an assessment of whether a person is an "idiot" or not, based on a movie review actually reflects poorly on your intelligence.

You guys were unduly harsh on this film. Yes, the plot was all over the place, but given that this is a musical, I think I can forgive that. And I completely concur with many critics, who complained that the musical numbers did not fit with the context of the scene. But putting all that aside, it did deliver on the frenetic energy and light hearted vibe that the 80s was known for. And despite the lackluster acting from women like Julianne Hough (not to mention her off putting high pitch voice), the musical numbers were executed well, and I loved the fresh take they had on many 80s classics. For reminding the world how much superior, vocally and instrumentally, 80s rock was in comparison to what we have today, and for the hilarious over the top performances of Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, and Catherine Zeta Jones, I can over look all the other flaws with this film, and give "Rock of Ages" a high rental - preferably with your TV speakers cranked as loudly as they can go, and with you ready in you best air guitar pose.

I posted my full thoughts on the video review, but Leon, Co-Host and Cyrus are totally right to hate this. This movie seriously could not end fast enough for me. Poorly acted except for Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin, terrible singing for lame covers of some good songs, bad jokes, atrocious jump cuts, idiotic character development and the barest of plots book ending one boring musical number after another.

Also points off for bringing in Bryan Cranston and doing nothing with him but spanking him repeatedly for several of the films gratuitous and pointless buttocks close ups.

This isn't nostalgic to me at all. They used gay glam music. I grew up loving Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, and Slayer. The music in this movie was 80's rock for girls.
