I have to really agree with Leon on this film. Steve Carrell just seemed so unlikable in this film and Kiera Knightley was flat-out annoying. That combined with the disorganized plot structure and random cameos made me a very bored person by the time the movie even remotely got interesting which was practically the last twenty minutes of the film.

I actually absolutely loved this movie, it's actually really my type of movie. Dark, hilarious, moving, destined to be a cult classic in my opinion.

I really enjoyed this movie. Both Kiera and Steve blew me away they acted well in this in my opinion. Even though Steve played his typical down and out middle age guy he got it down pat. I really like Kiera in this she played quirky well, but her emotional scenes, like the call to her folks, really sold it for me. Of course like many others I was wondering if it would have a different ending, but knew it wouldn't. But you can hope!

I'm glad someone else loves Keira Knightly just as much as I do. Co-host and I need to exchange notes about how sexy--I mean, how much talent she has in those eyes and full lips--I mean, about how much of a great actress she is. Whew, that was a close one.

Leon, Korey is inspired by your thoughts that is why he keeps cutting you off. but seriously though you guys should rotate on the synopsis per review.

Considering Carell is going to be in Anchorman 2 next, I think this trend of somber roles is about to halt for a bit.

I saw it this afternoon and thought it was the one time that seeing the trailer 1st actually helped. Only saw the trailer cause it was shown before another movie..but I knew what to expect, but instead I ended up liking it more because of its charm and emotional parts which really helped.
I felt the same way at 1st, especially with character development..until he meets Molly (i think her name was). and the closer they get to their destination(s)..the more we learn about them, given the short amount of time they share together. I'd give it a 'high matinee' because id get high at the end of the world just like them.

Thanks for finally posting this one guys! I agree with you guys that this movie wasn't great, but it was good. I think it's funny how that happens. Where there are moments that are just so sincerely written and acted that they make up for all the other scenes that didn't really make sense. Matinee all the way!

@Wodenson
That actually kinda makes sense. I mean how often do we see Leon being the one actually handing Nigel's gifts to Korey? Nigel doesn't exist!

I think it would have been better if they went the route of a str8 out love dramady. during the second half of the film they were not being consistant witht the days and weeks of the commet hitting earth.
I thought Derek Lukes scene would have been funny but it wasn't.kiera looked awkward when they were together.
Kiera Knightly was loveable and the scene in steve's lost loves house was kind of spooky. here eyes looked almost photoshoped of CG ed. if it was it is not the first time directors CGed a person in a movie.(pan lybrinth).
When i saw them feeding the of alcohol to the kids i was like ok it just lost cool points.
RT gave it a 53 and i will have to agree.
A low blow to focus pictures pertaining to new idea movies.ifc needs to get their low budget high quality movies to screen. just saying.

8:40 - I loved Northern Exposure. I don't remember too much about it at the moment, though. I might have to revisit it via Netflix.
