@Square Master, i couldn't agree with you more.

As for The Amazing Spider man this film was a huge disappointment's, this movie is the living embodiment of a by the book origin story and it isn't even all that great, there is no motivation for Peter or The Lizard, and i didn't see any real chemistry between both Garfield and Stone. So its a High Rental

Leon's opinion of Spider-Man 2 mirrors my own feelings about The Avengers.

this movie got the spiderman parts just right.

this movie ALSO got the peter parker parts right: everyone who disliked it and dismissed it as 'emo' or 'snarky' or 'mopey' or 'twilight' is forgetting the most pivotal point, which is that PETER PARKER IS A HIGH SCHOOL BOY!

all the reviews hating on Garfield's portrayal seem to come from reviewers who are JUST TOO OLD and have forgotten what that was like, being a 16, 17 year old awkward kid with a crush and identity issues. 500 Days of Summer worked for you, because the protagonists in THAT film were in their mid-20's, and therefore more relatable to YOU.

I did not like this movie as much as I did the Raimi ones, probably because the Raimi ones were the first to fulfill the promise of a Spiderman theater movie. Also, I did not care for the families portrayed in the latest, too on the surface and detached in the wrong places. Peter care for his aunt and her pains came way too late, his motivations sprang from a darker place even though both portrayals of Peter come from a place of selfishness and revenge, and the Lizard being another extension of his 'I cause this' guilt just made it harder to be for him and against the villain. Plus I just wanted for someone to smack him, Peter, for several reasons: attitude, care for his family, wearing the mask for a purpose. It was an interesting reboot and I'd watch a sequel, the college years.

These guys have lost their objectivity. I'm feeling this reboot way more than any of the previous movies.

I can't disagree with the crew any more than I already do here. Cyrus was trying to make Peter out to look like a whiny , emo kid when in fact, he's not that at all. He's acting like an actual kid and a "real" nerd. Not some stereotype who wears excessively large glasses and has a pocket protector.

btw , it's good that Co-Host brought up Batman Begins.

Here's some Amazing Spider-Man trivia : The Amazing Spider Man trivia :" The filmmakers cite Steve Ditko's early work on 'Spider-Man' and Brian Bendis's 'Ultimate Spider-Man' comic, and Batman Begins as an influence on the film. "

Let me chime in with my review : The only amazing thing about this "Spider Man" that it makes Spider Man 3 look like the Godfather .

If you hated it, you most likely saw the other three movies and was expecting the same spidy in this one.

If you thought it was ok, you most likely saw the other three movies and are just getting board with spidy movies

If you liked it, you saw the other three movies and didn't like them or you didn't see the other three movies

If you loved it, you probably read spidy comics when you were a kid.

I agree with Korey's review completely.

Cyrus, the Spider-Man depicted in this film is from the Ultimate Spider-Man universe, not Earth-616 (normal marvel universe).  If you read the first couple of comics you will see that some of the Uncle Ben/Peter dialogue is directly from those books.  So while your gripes about Peter's character are somewhat valid, this isn't some version of Spider-Man that some Hollywood writer just dreamed up; it just isn't the Spider-Man whose comics you grew up with.  And no offense, but I think most of yall's arguments are so predicated of the fact that this guy doesn't have the characteristics of the Spider-Man that you grew up with that you can't take it at face value.
I personally felt like Marc Webb did a really good job with the relationship between Peter and Gwen as well as the action scenes.  While the lizard did look kinda weird, the fact that they actually had him wear the doctor's coat in a scene or two was enough of a easter egg for me to forgive his overall look. While I don't in any way think this was a great film, since there was certainly too much backtracking and the lizard's plan was really cliche, but I dont think he was anywhere near as much of an asshole as you all are making him out to be.

Oh and I hated Spider-Man 2 as well.

Being a mega spider-man fanboy myself i felt annoyed with some of the comments made in this audio review. First of all the way peter acted around aunt may and uncle ben (at least for the parts when he was alive) is normal. It may seem strange but it's the truth because this peter parker is a bit more "rebellious" shall we say than tobey maguire in the sam raimi trilogy at times, tobey just seemed way to camp. It's like before he started a scene someone gave him head and tell him to be calm. Also he cried a lot. I know andrew garfield did too but when he cried you felt the emotion and frustration with what had just happened to his life whilst with, tobey he looked likke he had just thrown his toys out of the pram, it was pretty weak at times.

Matinee. I love Spider-Man. I love the ultimate comics, which I think the movie mirrors. The action was nice put a bit random with how it was displayed. Visually the movie is amazing, especially in 3D.

Just tried rewatching the original Raimi Spiderman, and as much as i loved it when it came out and i was 18, it is much too campy and feels very much like a B-movie. The Amazing Spider-Man is a MUCH better film in my opinion. I especially loved the relationships peter has with the people in his life, and how they are effected first by his quest for revenge, and then his desire to become a real hero and help people. Totally worth the $18.00 i paid for the imax experience.

I understand why people would dislike this remake, but I highly enjoyed it. I am excited to see the next two following sequels because I really do think it will help the story. This was just a minor puzzle piece to the whole thing.

In my opinion, this movie is become that movie like Prometheus, the reactions are gonna be so mixed that you can really tell anyone your gonna love it or hate it. Depends on what your okay with and not okay with in a Spider-Man movie, and dont mind them telling the story again, albeit, in a different way. As for me, this will be the first time I've really disagreed with the crew this year, I enjoyed this movie alot, it has flaws but it works mainly cause of the cast, but you could also feel Marc Webb's style in this (hints of 500 Days of Summer). And that the action is badass. Alot more script could have been given to the Lizard, and to Spidey's parents, but it's still a Full Price for me. I cant help but feel theres some extended cut they had with extra scenes of the Lizard and Parker's parents, that might actually be high Full Price or even Sex material

    @NULLcHILD

Well it seems that a lot of people have a problem with the way Peter Parker is characterised in this film, to the point where as Leon, Co-Host and Cyrus say that he’s an unlikeable character, which I don’t agree with at all. I’m just pointing out that Peter in the first film was unlikable too but people seem to have forgotten that. Now granted as you’ve said that was the point as Peter matures in that film, but the same goes for this film too. Amazing Spider-Man Peter’s journey is similar to how it was in the first film (although in my opinion handled much better here).

People are saying that he’s rude and dismissive of Aunt May and Uncle Ben, sure he neglects them to a minor extent, but it’s only because he becomes involved with Dr Connors and his father’s research which is helping understand why his parents had to leave him and he does tell Ben that he’s been a good father to him. Whereas in Sam Raimi’s film, Peter just wanted to get money and impress Mary Jane.

I just disagree with the opinion that this Peter isn’t relatable and that he’s unlikeable. I was rooting for him throughout the entire film.
