A novelist struggling with writer's block finds romance in a most unusual way: by creating a female character he thinks will love him, then willing her into existence.

Interesting review. You all mention Frankenstein, Weird Science, High Fidelity, The Twilight Zone, and I Dream of Jeannie. I'm suprised you didn't mention either Pygmalion or The Purple Rose of Cairo, both of which sound pretty similar to this in premise.

Wait, i hate getting political too and I don't know much about the McCarthy era except they were looking for Russian spies within our country. So....How is it selling out if Kazan's grandfather was helping bringing in bad guys?

IDK, this is not a debate question just an inquiring one.

This sounds like an anime/manga I wouldn't watch. This getting a happy ending doesn't sound like a matinee movie but more rental. Lolz, the reason why people love the Co-Host so much is that he doesn't pretend that he didn't enjoy the fuck out of big dumb 80s actions films and shit blowing up in big balls of orange and red. Nothing wrong with that. Guys like Co-Host watch these movies, the way I watch these movies, on DVD (or free) and will enjoy it just as well as any artsy hispter would, except we not dumb enough to shell out money for an hbo miniseries.

I'll never understand why Co-Host gets as much flack as he does when it comes to "intellectual" movies. So he loves cheesy 80's films, sex, and having fun.Who doesn't? He's just as capable of appreciating a film for it's story and providing well thought out criticism and it really shows here. Personally I think him and guys play up a lot of his fanboying for laughs and I think he's the funniest guy on this site. But he's got more depth then he lets on.

I saw this movie, before it was called ruby sparks. It was called something else, something a bit more confusing. I would give it a "netflix rental".

Seen it, wish I had that kind of sad excuse for a get out of jail free card that ruins the story. Horrible cop out ending. Yeah she can write a good story but utterly ruins it with the ending.

I would not have watched this movie because it has "Sparks" in the title. Now I know that it isn't another Nicholas Sparks movie.
