"And at the very end...Liam Neison kills them all."

That's the best quote to end this review (albeit sarcastically).

Wowww!!! I gotta say I seriously thought that this movie would've averaged out to a full price. The first one was more of a matinee to me and was the movie that didn't necessarily not pace itself to well but the action scenes in the middle were okay but nothing special. In this one everything was well-balanced. It was paced well, humorous, had serious moments, definitely way better shot action scenes, but slightly over the top with the cgi blood and main villian, which to me rounds out to at least a full price.

I like Stallone's approach to his movies. It seems like he's taking the right risks (blood & guts) and not taking it too far over the top where it's just comical and stupid (ex: "Crank", "Transporter", etc.). I don't know why they used cgi blood but at least they did use it. I'm glad they didn't let Arnold, Willis, or Norris overshadow the movie (Arnold acts like something's wrong with him anyway, he looked like a bobblehead with the machine guns. But I would've wanted him to have more lines, not shitty one-liners). The fight at the end was kind of short but I'm glad they showed that sometimes a good old-fashioned ass-whoopin beats all the martial arts BS. I wanted to see more of Li since the action scenes were shot better but I liked the movie anyway. I feel everybody got to show there strong points and those with more to show got more screen time. If anybody got shat on it was Couture because he didn't even have a quick one-on-one fight scene and not having many lines. Oh, and the girl was a waste of time. Van Damme's crew were a little too "NSYNC" for me and not grimey enough (when Van Damme kills somebody in the movie it's pretty cheesy).

But overall the bad stuff didn't take too much away. Compared to the BS they put out this movie really made my day and I hope the next is just as good.

Let's not turn this into a cyberfight, I was just giving my opinion. If male strippers is your thing, then that's on you, man.

Saw it today. My wife and I had legitimate laughs throughout. (And she’s as jaded as they come) From the review I was half expecting to see some grandpas, with a walkers in one hand and a M16 in the other, dutifully rattling off slurred one-liners every few minutes. But nah, these old dudes kicked a$$, high matinée for me.

Slightly better than the first but it's just Some Ole BS. I've watched a lot of the action flicks by nearly everyone in the cast but this film does not take full advantage of what they can do. Apart from the opening scene I can't recall any impressive gun fights or fist fights in the movie. Sure there was plenty of shooting and violence but mowing down a bunch of nameless minions doesn't show the kind of struggle I like to see. The Van Damme fight hardly counts as a fight compared to those in his other films and overall I feel better about waching these guys in their own films were I can see Jet Li, Stallone, Statham, etc. really go to town instead of just a small taste here and there for all of 2 minutes of action time total each.

@Jonathon "Nothing what" what? LOL j/k That was a commentary for an episode of 24, I couldn't get it to play anywhere else so was just like "Ok, I'll use Spill's player but then open another window and delete so it doesn't take up comment space since it wasn't super relevant to Expendables 2. I could make points on how it can be similar but suffice to say, it wasn't. Sorry you listened to it.

It's difficult to see what people get so upset about with these movies. They're just fun. If you've seen the first one, you pretty much know what to expect at this point. If you've seen action movies in general you know what you're getting into. It's fun, it's harmless and I really hope we get a third one.

Just came back from the movie and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot!

I got to see it with the same friends I saw the first one with, and from the opening scene we were enjoying ourselves. We were surprised by how we got invested into the story. We had a guessing game as to who died and I lost, but the way the character that died got it...damn! The Chuck Norris scene was comical and basically added up to a fun cameo. We didn't mind. Most of us weren't big Norris fans to begin with. The Stallone/Van Damme fight was excellent. It was really brutal and I got the classic Stallone rib-punches and Van Damme's flying kick. Oddly enough, Van Damme was such a prick as the villain. Even going so far as to smile and wave has he just finished killing...you know who.

There was a lot of comedy in this too, which helped. And call backs to the first movie like Toll Road's ear, Gunner picking on Yin and the "I would've win" thing and even Church bringing up a point I had about the first movie with how they killed the villain came back up.

The scene in the airport with Stallone, Willis and Schwarzenegger was great to see. In the last movie I was overjoyed to see something I never thought possible when I was a kid--a scene with the three of them together--in it, and now with the second one to see them shooting against the enemy side by side was even cooler to see.

This was an incredibly fun movie. It's not high-end cinema, but to fans of the genre and to those of us who enjoyed the first movie, it was fun to see everyone again. That, and we saw it in an RPX theatre where the sound was incredible. This honestly deserves to be seen in a theatre that will go out of its way in the sound department, because if ever there was a movie that needs every punch and shot fired to be heard, it's this one.

Understandably, Leon didn't like it, and like I've said before, that's cool. It's not his thing. It's just a harmless fun action movie that you sit down with and go along for the ride.

Unlike the Spill Crew (and I guess alot of other people too) I really enjoyed the first Expendables, so I had the reverse problem with this one - whereas their expectations were extremely low, mine where way too high, and I felt kinda let down. This one had the bigger explosions and a higher number of bullets flyin, but the parts between the action dragged way way more for me, it really felt at times like they were just sayin "ok, this is the part where we all have to sit down and rest for 20 minutes cos we're so old and fucked."

And like u guys mentioned with Couture, Crews and Li, I felt the first movie had a more or less wholehearted stab at giving every member of the team a significant part to play. In the final 20 minutes of E1 everybody's got some cool shit to do, everybody has a badass fight - in this one, not only do they get rid of the best fighter of the bunch in the first ten minutes, but the final showdown between Sly and Van Damme was over before it felt like it had even started to warm up.

Now I'm not sayin the first movie is a masterpiece by any stretch, but I don't remember ever being bored by it or significantly dissapointed. This one, not so much.

Old men, guns, testosterone filled action? Nah. This movie is bad as Chuck Norris jokes.

Mike Walton, I wasn't picking at people for going to see DKR. I was just telling Leon that he is no different from the people who go see movies like Expendables 2. I never said I liked this movie, either. And I didn't say that Leon called the Spillios retarded. I wrote that he all but called Spillios retarded. Meaning he inferred it. Reading comprehension, son.

And no one is defending the movie. We are pointing out how unprofessional Leon was being to insult people for wanting to go see a movie.
