I don't understand where the whole "All time classic" praise is coming from, but this is still good. Paranorman can't be topped this year in regards to animated films though

i thought adam sandler was really good in the movie, but my biggest problem with the film was just that it was constant noise.  there are too many scenes of characters screaming and yelling and not enough scenes of characters actually just talking.  i also really liked the animation and the design of the world, but it was kind of lacking a touch of subtlety that tartakovsky is normally known for.

it's pry just a personal preference sort of thing though for me, since i like humor that is more downplayed, subtle, and sarcastic as opposed to big bombastic laughs.  sorry, one last thing though, fart jokes are dumb.  there particularly in the beginning, way too many fart jokes.  im sorry, but theres nothing clever about fart jokes and are there just to kill time when you have nothing going on.

overall, this would be a middle of the road rental.  though i will admit, adam sandler was good in this.

Sounds awesome, for the first time ever I wish I had kids so I could go check it out in theatres without lookin like a wierdo!

Also, as much as I'm always pleased to hear Mad Monster Party get a mention, it saddens me that there's never any love for the Rankin and Bass 2d animated follow up Mad Mad Mad Monsters, which to me has always been my favourite. If you've an interest in these kinda movies and haven't seen it I beg you to check it out - would turn the MMP/HT double bill into a fantastic trilogy!!

I saw this movie because you guys gave it such high praise, and I have to say you were totally right. I had so much fun at this movie and I can't wait to own it on DVD just to see all that great animation again.

just fyi, clone wars 3d tv series is actually pretty good

the new clone wars series is an awesome show, it started off pretty rough, but there were a few gems here and there like "Rookies" and "Landing at Point Rain" Most everything after season 2 has been just as good in my opinion as the old shorties. It gets darker and takes a lot more chances with the brutality and violence each year. Worth checking out.

Where's Syrus been? I don't want him to leave like Carlyle did. By the way, congrats to Carlyle for co-writing Sinister.

This is not Adam Sandlers redemption he did not make this movie at all. All he did was voice it. This was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky who Created Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory and Symbiotic-Titan. This movie does barely recover the mountain of shit he's made. The movie is great though.

Genndy also directed the animated opening to Priest, if I'm not mistaken - and that was far and away the best part of that movie. I'm seeing this tomorrow (Along with Looper) with tempered expectations. I'm glad the Crew liked it, but other reviews have been pretty tepid. I haven't seen enough Sandler movies to have any real opinion on him, but I love Genndy's Cartoon Network stuff and want him to succeed.

Was not going to see this just because of Sandler, but now I'm totally gonna check it out!

So happy you guys really dug it. I was wishing for the best, but expecting the worst for obvious reasons. Definitely checking out this weekend. Great way to kick of the halloween season. Cant wait!

Time out...The 3d Clone Wars show is not bad.  Try watching it first.  Yes the first 2 seasons are mediocre but it gets better and better every year.  People who hate that show are ones who never saw an episode or just went into it hating it.

    Carry on.

Something that I am surprised they (the spill crew) didn't mention is that Genndy did the storyboarding for the last action sequence in Iron Man 2. So we have Genndy Tartakosky to thank for the great fight with Iron Man and War Machine vs the drones and Vanko.
