At the beginning of the film I was gearing towards a High Rental, because based on where the story was and where I "thought" I saw it going my reaction was that there was really no need to see this in the theater. Then Ralph jumped into Hero's Duty and the rating skyrocketed to a Straight Matinee, and it stayed until the point where Venelope was getting teased by the racers and from that point on I was hooked and the movie wouldn't let go, now I have some problems with the film but they are only nit picks, I will say that there is two BIG reveals in the film, one you can see coming and one you can't. The reveal you don't see coming may cause a problem for you as a viewer and a critic if you don't go with, but my advice is to GO with it, because that payoff is well worth it, this was almost a Better Than Sex because of that final act but as it stands this film is A VERY, VERY HIGH FULL PRICE!!!!! That last reel had me on the edge of my seat enjoying the emotional rollercoster!!!

P.P.S. You guys watch Powerpuff Girls? lol that's awesome.

P.S. Maybe they're censoring some things because they're promoting the movie and they're allowed to give their honest opinions but not allowed to deface the name or be overly crude about the Disney brand (i.e. by calling it "Wreck That P*ssy" as Leon suggested..) for legal reasons?? I dunno, just talking out of my @$$ here, but it's just a guess... that's why A Very Potter Musical on youtube had to censor some things but could keep others... they didn't want to get into legal trouble for being overly crude about the Potter brand (i.e. they had to censor out Dumbledore implying that he'd give Snape a bj), but they could make a general parody of it.

you guys have ratings such as "some ol bullshit", "fuck you!!!" and "Better than sex"yet you are censoring your reviews?

I understand that this is a family film but I believe that a content warning at the start of the review would suffice.

    The reviews are censored now?

You're right about one thing, this is the only good video game movie out there.  Still waiting on a good video game adaptation movie though.

I find it ironic you over hyped Hotel Transylvania as a good story, interesting for both kids and adults when it was a movie completely made for kids.  This one translated a lot better to adults, still a kids movie, but by comparison Hotel Transylvania has a far more shallow story.
The racing aspect only serves as external conflict and motivation.  This is in no way a "racing movie" it just has racing in it.  The racing is as big a part as the game jumping.  It's there but it's not the focus.

Also your comparison of Roger Rabbit doesn't make sense.  R.R. is about crossing over the real world with it's fictional one. This movie just has crossovers of franchises and it's own worlds.  It's the video game version of Toy Story, which is far more a like to Roger Rabbit in that respect, but you still wouldn't consider Toy Story to be like Roger Rabbit.

And is it just me, or have a lot of the Pixar/Disney films lately taken kind of a surprise left turn into a place that wasn't really featured in the trailers?  Up ended up being about running away from dogs in the jungle.  Brave ended up as Mother Bear.

Mayor McCheese was also a parody of the same guy (Ed Wynn) I'd say.

I did end up loving this movie, though the crew is right about the movie dwelling unexpectedly in the racing game a bit too much.  But that said, I did also become invested in that part of the story as well, Vannelope definitely grew on me.  But Brian said exactly what I was thinking, I wanted more game jumping as well!

The annoying kids are not exactly gone. You always run into them when playing online granted it's easier to deal with them.

I gotta say think you guys are nitpicking this just alittle bit with the outdated character thing because when i was a kid, I loved the Toy Story series. Alot of people my age do too, but let me tell ya the toys featured in those movies ive never played with at that age. Mr. Potato Head , Etch n Sketch all recognizable toys but still were waay outdated by the time of the first Toy Story's release. I enjoyed this movie though and im hoping alot of kids will enjoy this for the same reason i enjoyed Toy Story when i was a kid.

Saw this Friday Night and I absolutely loved it, high full price! For this to have the same rating as Brave on the website is a bit of an insult to this movie. Best Animation of 2012, and will probably in my top 10 for the year, while it did spend a lot of time in Sugar Rush, I didnt mind cause I loved the characters and I was consistently laughing at the jokes, and they really got me at the end with the heart this movie had, I was almost shedding tears. This is well done from Disney, they out Pixar'd pixar.

I heard another critic compare it more to Nightmare Before Christmas & I kinda agree with that comparison more than Roger Rabbit. A guy is upset with the job he's been doing for years, so he goes to a more colorful world & the results are not too pleasant. More game jumping would have been nice, but I'd give it a Full Price. Such a good film.

It's funny...looking at the trailers I NEVER got any kind of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" vibe from it at all, and I'm honestly kind of confused as to exactly where all that is coming from. I mean yeah on the POSTERS they were putting all sorts of other characters like Bison and Sonic front and center, but again from the actual clips it still looked grounded to Ralph, the little girl, and the Lady Master Chief being the focus of the story with Ralph game hopping from place to place, which at the end of the day was going to be the MOST important no matter how many familiar faces they cram into the movie. I mean would the movie REALLY be any better if Mario showed his face in the background or we took another half hour just to go to other worlds for fan service? Really?

And most of the movie was going to take place inside the video game worlds regardless, not the real world, so where exactly are the WFRR expectations coming from?? Roger Rabbit, Toy Story....yeah I just don't get it people. Just because it has to do with play things we might have had in our childhoods doesn't mean it's gonna be the same as those movies.

If anything I got much more of a SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD vibe from it, where all the video game stuff was just going to be the aesthetics to make it a fun roller coaster of an animated movie.

Just saw this film, loved it so much, and the Roger Rabbit comparison is spot-on, it's this Gens Roger Rabbit.

Sweet! I was really hoping it would live up to the hype cause I'm actually getting pretty psyched to see this movie. It defiantly sounds cool even though I never played wreck it Ralph or any of those really old games. It's still cool to see a game movie that doesn't suck cubes. And there's still a bunch of characters that I do recognize.

my older sister and I liked this movie a lot dazzling visuals, heartful, humorous and action-packed Im glad Ive been a total gamer since I got my N64 when I was little stinks though that these famous characters we see are only on for a split second then we never see them again.... Sarah Silverman as Venelope is my favorite cause she stole every scene! something told me that they were going to do the 'Wizard of Oz' and 'Star Wars' jokes cause it's so inevitable at this point Im glad to have played N64, Gameboy, PS2, PC, PSP, PS3, Gameboy Color someone please tell these filmmakers in the future: make good video game movies!!!

I kind of agree with you guys about Sugar Rush, but it's still a full price for me. As much as I'd love to see them explore other games, I'm glad that the movie was an hour and a half. I think if they did more game jumping, they would have had to sacrifice a lot of the story or just make the movie a lot longer. I'm glad the movie actually had a plot and strong characters, and it wasn't just "hey, look at all these games we're exploring!"

I disagree when you say they should have used the licensed characters more. I think they had just the right amount of references. Even in Roger Rabbit, the characters you see the most are Roger Rabbit, Jessica Rabbit and Eddie Valiant. I'm glad they used the time they had to flesh out their original characters.

I think my favorite part of the movie was the graphiti on the walls in game central station. It said stuff like "All your base are belong to us" and "Leeroy Jenkins"

While I understand your criticisms, I have to say I was really happy they took the road they did. I was afraid this was gonna devolve into a mess of references and cameos that made no sense and was a bunch of pandering. Instead they got in alot of smart cameos that helped me get into it and then focused on telling a great story with likeable characters and much more resonating drama than I expected. Sure it would have been cool actually see Mario and I would be lying if I said I wasn't hoping to see Ralph get attacked by a Metroid while searching through the lost and found and say "Hate those things." But looking back, I realize that it wouldn't have helped the film at all. I'm glad the filmmakers realized they had a story to tell and stuck to it. I don't think having older characters is gonna hurt the film. I have no idea who Q*bert and the diner guy are but I still enjoyed them. As for Sugar Rush, I really didn't mind being there. I liked the relationship between Ralph and Vanellope and Vanellope grew on me as time went on. I was confused by the platforming elements in a racing game but I guess the racers have to do SOMETHING after the arcade closes. I was also hoping for more spectacle in the race, but I quickly forgave it when the twist came in. There were a bit too many puns in Sugar Rush but most of them fell under the so bad it's funny category and I think that's what they were going for. I really really liked this film. It had awesome characters, a great and surprisingly deep story, alot of funny moments and a good number of cool cameos. Plus I saw Sonic the Hedgehog on the big screen twice, which made my life XD. It's one of my favorite films of the year if not my favorite film. In a year filled with superheroes and explosions, as much as I love those, a movie with heart always sticks with me more. High Full Price, almost a Better than Sex.
