This movie was basically an okay movie with a supposedly high budget, that's all. The story is actually pretty dry and bland and that with the plot was hammered with cliches, all while tediously pandering; overly long huge gaps of crow-bared and unnecessary scenes. What makes this movie okay are special effects but those too are far from stellar. Despite what Leon said about the "realistic" CG on the tiger, the tiger is actually glaringly obvious when it is CG and is far too exaggerated, glossy and shinny as well as inconsistently modeled at most times; its anatomy size and shape varies depending on the scenes compared to the obvious actual tiger. The tiger was if anything, mediocrely animated but the rest of the animals that were CG were just worse. In fact, most were either bad to terrible.

Their message with spirituality was interesting but does not go as deep with it as the book. At best, this movie was simply a "Matinee". It was by no means a "Better Than Sex" movie nor even a "Full Price". However, it is defiantly not "Some Ole Bulls**t" and did deserve to be seen in theaters, so it is not just a "Rental".

Man, I pray I feel the same way about this film as Co-Host; one of my favourite books for sure. Really want to hear Korey & Cyrus' opinions, too.

Korey needs to do his Obama impression more often.

Sorry to be "that guy" again, but damn Korey. Do you watch any of the movies you "review"? It'd be damn nice to get paid to talk about movies you've never seen.

Saw the movie it looked really good and had some really good parts but I think the script could of been rounded out a bit. I hate to say it but some parts that veered from the book didn't work out so they bothered me. Other things that changed form the book worked well but most of it felt out of place or out of character. I feel like if you read the book you will get twice as many of the jokes but any of the problems will seem magnified because you know how good they could of been. I think the biggest thing they could of done to improve the movie was to have it narrated like someone telling a story the whole time. They start off doing that and it works really well then they just stop and I think the movie lulls a bit. The next thing that could of been done better is that Pi does many things that don't make logical sense I found that the book always made logical sense even when he made mistakes but I guess they had reasons for reworking it and they paid the price to get it done. Also if you throw in a love story at least give it purpose or do it well. My last stupid worthless comment is that the christian priest scared me and I thought his rewritten answers were rather dull and not as meaningful as they could of been. I liked the movie but I really hope someone later in life redoes the movie with a little more effort put into the emotional struggle and have it not rated G. This story is a lot more meaningful when he is eating shit/becoming a brutal animal and losing all humanity. Still I recommend seeing this movie although its not for everyone.

Also, am I the only one who liked Hulk 2003? I thought it was better than the cringe-fest that was the 2008 film...

And I knew Leon (or Cyrus) would comment on the Richard Parker thing. I hope Peter doesn't take it too personally that his father was a tiger...

Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be pretty awkward.

I read the book last year in high school. It was an assigned book that I...actually liked? Can't wait to see the movie tomorrow night!

Andrew Garfield was considered for the role but Tobey Maguire was cast. Though he filmed his scenes, Tobey was later replaced by Rafe Spall because Ang Lee thought that Tobey was too famous for such a small role and it would have been distracting.
