just saw the movie and i almost completely agreed with everything being said. i disagree with you on the part that the movie went against its own mythology, everything they said and did matched up. also Cyrus you are off about how the casters were being hypocritical. Lina clearly stated that unlike mortals who blame their evil or wrong doings on something else (i.e. satan) casters own up to their evil. it isnt the devil making them do evil, it is their true nature, its who they are inside not some outside force. that is the whole point of the claiming, Lina's true nature would come out and she was afraid because of her rage that was truly evil.
Corey the tornado/storm wasnt misplaced. throughout this whole movie Lina has mostly been doing elemental magic so when enraged at the thought of her beloved being dead it totally makes since she would go bat shit crazy and called down all the forces of the heavens out of her pain. i agree the ending was a little anti climatic, i was hoping for a big magical showdown, i mean they could have changed that from the book with no problem but oh well there is always the sequels, there are like 4 or 5 books in the series. i really did like that Lina's nature is both light and dark, as the most powerful caster it makes sense for her to have a foot in both worlds

@TimZ
I actually don't like Brian sometimes or maybe just how he voices his opinions. Another reason to not put him on the payroll is because I can't take to people who make FUCKING PUNS!!!!! Sorry Brian but no. I think he's an okay guy though.

I think someone need to be a permanent troll replacement for Son of Ajax. The routine is getting quite stale and boring.

As someone who considered going to see twilight, should I see this movie?
Let me know what you think. http://youtu.be/U7aDeH4fP7U

totally worth itthere are similarities between this and 'Twilight' but they do differ in a lot of ways1) the couple here is much better-acted and sympathetic; you are rooting for their relationship to work considering they are worlds apart2) it's the male protagonist that falls for the girl who is supernatural, no whining or insecurities involved3) their actions have consequences and they recognize them and take responsibilitythe special effects are very cool even if they are only the foreground in the storyboth Alden and Alice actually have the chemistry for the romance angle the filmmakers are going for but for me, I would have casted the main guy’s ex as the female lead, she was just more of a lookerUnfortunately, the downsides spotted include Emma Thompson overacting in many areas, her not having enough screen time to begin with, Jeremy Irons and Emmy Rossum are also brushed aside it sucks that several good veteran actors don't get the treatment they deserve from this materialthe good news is that the actors don't make you mad because they make stupid, idiotic decisions and a fair amount of humor is sprinkled into the mixtureit's sweet, utterly romantic, and quite a watch for a story about witchescouples watching will no longer have that other member complaining about being dragged to itit's more tolerable that way
it also got 48% on RottenTomatoes, just about the same level as the 1st 'Twilight' movie

Was this going on at the same time as Safe Haven?

I really like this Brian dude--he's got great chemistry with the rest of the crew. He does have some hesitancy to participate in some of the gang's antics though, but I'm sure he'll overcome that with time. I hope you've put him on the payroll now, Korey.

Saw this movie a few hours ago, really not bad. MUCH better than Twilight. With Twilight, I was sitting there contemplating if I should try to fall asleep among the screaming girls, or just walk out and have my girlfriend hate me later. But with this, I actually enjoyed it, especially the adult cast. I'd give it a Full Price. If you have a girl who want to see a movie, you may actually find yourself enjoying this along with Warm Bodies.
