Why the fuck can't she get a boat from cardiff to dublin? To get to Dingle in Kerry you have to fucking sail past Dublin.

I don't think you're being fair Bríd. Im pretty sure they are aware that Ireland is not the backwards ass shit hole the film makes it out to be. It's possible you misinterpreted irony or sarcasm for sincerity.

Our premise was, that was how the MOVIE inaccurately portrayed the Irish and we complained at length about the stereotyping. Are you SURE you listened to the review?

I think I did and what I heard was that you get the impression that Irish people are "hicks" because some idiot decided to make a movie about a woman who goes to Ireland and prpose to her boyfriend after hearing about some tradition the Irish themselves don't even care about. If you want to see some films that show what Ireland is really like watch "32A", "The Snapper" and "The Commitments". These are Irish films about Irish people MADE by Irish people WITHOUT clichés. Wheew - Rant over.

Well EXCUSE ME! But it is the American writers who are the assholes not the Irish! You think our county is crap? At least we don't fucking have oil spills!

There is nothing wrong with the Irish! Yeah sure they have a bad temper but there is nothing wrong with them, this movie on the other hand is an epic peice of dog shit in our cereal bowl's. She got a crap ton of diamonds & she wanted a ring! What a big bag of a bitch! If I was Irish & she yelled at me I would fuck'n bitch slap her & tell her to grow up! I say fuck the premise, fuck the story & fuck this movie!

Being Irish I am understandingly bothered by this movie. What annoys me is not a stereotypical view of Irish people but the American writers lack of understanding and respect for Irish culture or any other culture for that matter. Its so obvious that the writer had never even been to Ireland. Portraying the Irish as scruffy, uncaring, douche bags is soooo far from the truth especially when the Irish are universally renowned as being friendly and accommodating to tourists. Of course Amy Adam's character is the sole voice of sanity in a unforgiving world of wild, Guinness gut, effin and blindin paddy pricks. America once again proves that their land is a beacon of civilisation wheres all other countries are currently in the dark ages and are populated by tribes of Neanderthal like savages.

Good review but, you gave Bride Wars some ol' bullshit and you give this a FUCK YOU? I think you should have it the other way around because no matter how bad this could be, Bride Wars was worse.

For the record I have a SIZABLE amount of Irish friends mainly because in my experience they are some of the nicest and most fun people to hang around you'd ever want to meet. Unlike the douche bags in this movie.

Ireland is beautiful and full of friendly people. I beg you spill crew: don't base your opinions of the Irish on this lying shit of a movie!!

I just get tired of any movie where an American is somewhere foreign, and everyone is just mean at them for no good reason. I've been to Japan, and London, and no matter how out of depth I might have felt in certain situations, people I encountered were nice as hell.

Such a stupid movie. Makes Ireland and the Irish as sneaky and bad. The main characters deserve each, both are awful and hope they have an unhappy life. Prime crap.
