I saw the first one in theaters and liked it decently, nothing too special, but once I saw the trailer for this sequel I made up my mind... SOME OLE BULLSHIT!!!

@EM-50 I'm pretty sure when they tore that one guy up at the end and raised his organs in the air to divide amongst one another the implication was that they were feasting on him. You don't have to actually see it to know that it's happening. But my point is, like it or not, it's considered to be a horror film, and it's also considered to be the first horror "found footage" film. You're welcome to claim The McPherson Tapes as the first Sci-Fi found footage film if you want. I just don't want to argue with Bill Murray anymore. It's traumatizing me. :-(

@EM-50 It's not a snuff film. The animals being killed was real, but there were no real dead bodies. That was just a popular rumor at the time. A horror film is a film that's has scary elements, Amazon cannibals killing and feasting on tourists is a scary subject, more so when it came out in 1980. I think some would even put cannibals on the same level as zombies and zombies are HUGE in horror films.Just because it doesn't have ghosts or aliens or monsters doesn't mean it's not a horror film. Horror is about the unknown, and nobody knew what to expect when it came to this movie. Heck, I remember being scared by the cover box when I was little.  Just because you don't find it scary doesn't mean it's not qualified to be a horror film.

Funny part about area 407 was right after they crashed, instead of the plane looking like it did on abc's 'lost', it looked like it was missing 90 percent of its parts and was there for over a year. NO fire, no smoke, no parts on the ground. Terrible movie.

I am getting tired of found footage movies. THey obviously make these movies because they don't have money to spend on effects or sets or costumes. I just saw a movie called 'area 407' JESUS FUGGING CHRIST! THe only sets were inside of a plane, on the ground next to a rusty airplane frame and then , what looks like, somebody's empty plot of land. They just have spent 2 grand on that movie. The whole movie consists of people running from something that you can't see then finally there are like two scenes where you see a split second of a low budget dinosaur that looks like it was stolen from the Jurassic park cgi department. As I watched it I realized I could make that movie just by calling in some favors or by promising to put somebody's name in the credits.

It was nice to see that the spill guys are all characters, pre-written.  They have irritated me about their hard leftwing stuff, but this podcast makes it very clear. They're just doing characters.  Talking about politics or this or that, doesn't matter.

@EM-50 Dude, Cannibal Holocaust is a horror film. It always makes the lists of top horror films of all time.

Last Exorcism, I can watch the first movie and be really happy with the product up until the last ten minutes (no spoilers, but what happens in the shed near the end had me on my seats edge).   This movie just looks so... meh.  Skipping it. Now that Giant movie, that looks like a winner.

@Andrew WILLSON aka MAD MOngrel     LOL, too true

Ashley Bell sure plays some dark characters. I just watched The Day, and she played a real hard ass role in that. It wasn't a bad film.

Eh...Exorcisms...With all the poo-pooing of ghosts, God, etc. these days, I can't help but look at an exorcism as a priest who has to put up with a person who is in such a desperate need for attention he/she has to act all "demonic", etc. in order to get it...

Yo @EM-50, I'm really happy for you, Imma let you finish but Cannibal Holocaust is considered the first found footage movie!

Yes there have been other found footage films, don't forget Man Bites Dog, but many not widely seen by the public. The McPherson Tapes(released on home video was mostly viewed by UFO enthusiast, due to the original distribution company burning to the ground leaving only a few tapes floating around). As for the remake of the McP Tapes, UPN's Alien Abduction Incident in Lake County which aired on a Tuesday night, it was a modest hit but there are still plenty of people who have never even heard of this awesome display of found footage goodness. I'm sure it's safe for me to say that none of these films had the kind of success that The Blair Witch had. If I'm not mistaken, it's still the most successful independent movie of all time and is even considered a milestone in film history. Blair may not be the first found footage film but it's popularity did start the ball rolling for the new genre of found footage films that we are seeing today.

Check out The Last Broadcast dealing with The Jersey Devil. It came out around the same time as The Blair Witch and had some similarities to it which lead to some controversy about Blair plagiarizing The Last Broadcast but it was never proven or contested.

Le sigh.  I really enjoyed the first movie and was looking forward to this one, but if all four of you said this was a letdown and boring... even the Blair Witch fans (you almost can get no more boring than that movie)... then, man.  I still might have to see it at the cheap theater (because I'm stubborn), but my expectations are greatly lowered.

Another funny review, though!  At least we got something positive out of this experience!

9:40 - I agree with Cyrus.  Hell, as bad as Book of Shadows was, at least stuff happened in it.  It might have been BS stuff, but it was SOMETHING.

    Hey @Dirac -

GorTheMovieGod meant that our review of *this film* is one of the few reviews out for *this film*. I don't think it's him that needs to think before he types. Also, you need to rethink the tone that you address other site members with.
