Just came back from seeing the movie and I have to give it a matinee.  Jim might not be like he use to but he can still put a smile on my face.

On Friday March 15, 2013, my mom, my little brother Jean Marco and I went to see The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.

I went to this movie with low expectations after hearing some mixed opinions about it.

The screenplay of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone was written by Chad Kultgen, Tyler Mitchell, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein and the movie is based on John Francis Daley's love of magic.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is about two successful magicians named Burt Wonderstone (played by Steve Carell) and Anton Marvelton (played by Steve Buscemi) who after 30 years of success quit working together because Burt is a rude and cocky womaniser who refuses to change his current rountine. Burt loses his job because his repeative current rountine isn't making any money and he refuses to come up with any new acts. But later on Burt and Anton notice that people are loving a new street magician named Steve Gray (played by Jim Carrey) who does pretty crazy and dangerous acts like card tricks involving cheek cuts, holding his arm above burning candles or sleeping on red hot coals. While working as a magician at a retirement home for other entertainers in Las Vegas Burt meets an old magician named Rance Holloway (played by Alan Arkin) who inspired Burt to become a magician when he was a bulled 11 year old kid. So Rance helps Burt, Anton and their smart, funny and gorgeous assistant Jane (played by Olivia Wilde) come up with an act that will help them overthrow Steve and regain something that Burt lost not too long ago.

I thought that the story of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone was edgy, funny and charming but I wish that some of the sexual humor and profanity was toned down because it makes me think that this movie had trouble deciding if it wanted to be either a dark comedy movie or a comedy movie that familes will enjoy watching.

Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini and Jim Carrey all do a good job. Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi and Jim Carrey provide some hysterical moments to keep the movie alive. Olivia Wilde is a smart, funny and gorgeous love interest and Alan Arkin does a wonderful job in giving The Incredible Burt Wonderstone it's heart.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone was directed by Don Scardino, who directed some episodes of 30 Rock and even though he made the tone of this movie feel uneven I thought Don directed this movie with a decent and funny touch.

I loved the magic tricks in this movie. The music score by Lyle Workman is nice.

I liked the great messages in this movie about the importance of friendship and more importanitly that the career that Burt has should come from a sense of his joy and and passion and not just because of the fame, money and the cute girlfriends.

Overall The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is not as aggravating as Leon and Co-Host think it is. It may be an edgy comedy movie with an uneven tone but it's also funny and charming comedy movie. I give The Incredible Burt Wonderstone 3 out of 5 stars, a Matinée! and I hope you enjoy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.

Good review. Looking at the trailer, I was thinking I would enjoy seeing this on Comedy Central in two or three years. Now, I'm not even sure that will happen.

I dont know why but just recently i have fallen in love with jim Carrey again, it is probably because i havent seen him in a while, because i do remember being tired of him for a while when it felt like he was in every other movie. He was the only reason i actually wanted to see this, oh well, lets just hope he is great in KickAss

This looks like one of those movies that doesn't have any actual jokes in it that they show on saturday afternoons on Comedy Central.

    @ C

LMAO! What hell? It's sounds like you have a personal vendetta against Carrell...

Damn, I thought this movie had small potential from the trailer.  Funny review guys, but Will Farrell's name was mentioned far too many times for me to go see this movie now.  Okay, I might go see it at the cheap theater, but my expectations are going to be soooo low.

I like how at 2:30 korey says y'all are trying to make it seem like I loved this movie when I just said it wasn't as bad as other people were making it out to be. Dude that's what you do to Martin all the time hahaha. Btw I am a fan of ringing his ass over the coals for spiderman 3 & what not. Like all good jokes there is an element of truth to it

I enjoyed the movie for what it's worth. It was free for me, because of a special screening, but I loved the magical acts, even if it was fake. I would give it a high rental, but that's just me.

    I am SKIPPING THIS!

    not interested

sorry but this only got 38% on RottenTomatoes 'The Incredible Burt Wonderstone serves up some goofy laughs, but given its outrageous conceit, it's surprisingly safe and predictable.'

So a movie that Korey kinda likes but the other guys hate?... It's "A Haunted House" reversed!
