When I saw the first poster for this movie that was the first thing I thought. Angelina Jolie is fucking Johnny Depp now.

This movie was decent. Agree with pretty much all your main points. Besides Depp... I really did like him in this one. Hated the ending..

I go to community college, the people who go there look pretty normal. The instructors I actually find more attractive; they ain't all old, and they spent more time on personal appearance rather than grades, insoforth to explain why they are teaching here and not at a university.

I'm with the Co-host...whatever happened to the 21 jump street Depp? haha He definitely changed since then...however, he's still an excellent actor. It's funny how Co-host almost lost it at the end. "I feel like a bum watching this...why aren't I rich and beautiful? I got screwed somewhere!" lol

    Whoa, whoa whoa, whoa.

Am I the only one who noticed that at 0:35 it sounds a lot like the Pirates of the Caribbean theme? Weird.

I saw the original a while back, eh it was alright. When I heard they were remaking this for American audiences and said that Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie were in it, I thought it was funny. When looking at Anthony Zimmer its hard to imagine them playing those characters. Just surprised no body has compared it to its original source. Wondering which one is better.

Forgot to mention about Cookie Monster's comment, Depp's role in "What's eating Gilbert Grape"  was nowhere near playing the average joe. Onscreen being an average joe is playing someone that doesn't have much character development , only simple lines and simple backgrounds.  The role of Gilbert had alot of depth involved with who he is, his upbringing and the family he had to maintain.  There was alot to work with playing that part, just because he looked normal didn't make that role anywhere near average. I'm just sayin ;)

To me it sounds like Depp accepted a role that was waaaaaaaaay too easy for him to play that it ended up boring him to tears, and even in the preview it shows.  That's another reason why I love his work.  Give the guy a challenging role whether subtle or larger than life to bite into, he'll get so into the part it will be mindf$$king (in a good way). He's better off playing parts that need some real homework to pull it off. I agree with you guys totally.  This is the kind of role that should be given to a guy who hasn't broken out yet as a leading actor and would be good to introduce him that way, then see what he's got in more unique roles.  Depp is far beyond these plain roles they're not necessary for him.  That and even though I respect Jolie and to me she's one of the best leading actresses out there, I think she should relax on wanting to play freakin TOUGHER than every single lead male in her flicks, besides Brad Pitt who rocked her behind the scenes during Mr and Mrs Smith to change her ways on camera. It feels like every movie she's trying to prove that women can stand above leading men, especially in her action flicks, relax girl you can't wear the pants in the relationship in every freakin movie your in.

Angelina Jolie is one of the only actress's or actors that I go out of my way to avoid. She sucks as an actress and honestly she's not even that pretty, maybe if I wasn't distracted by her protruding ribcage and she actually ate some food she could be hot - She seems like a nice girl but having to watch her on film,

    Hell no.

Depp isn't a good actor either, he was great in the first Pirate's of the Caribbean, totally nailed his character and was very funny but everything else he's done,............... he's not that good an actor.

This is just another one of those's films that Hollywood makes all the time, most of what Hollywood makes is garbage but there is normally one or two films a year that's great.

    O Well

    Peace

Johnny Depp has done so many roles in costumes or wacky out there roles, that when I saw the poster for this and I saw him actually dressed as a regular person, my first thought was "OH! Johnny Depp still acts, I totally forgot about that."

    Ah, the old Bad-Guy-Kills-His-Own-Failed-Underling trick.

'Your lack of faith disturbs me...'

Didn't think much of this after seeing the trailer. Thanks for confirming my suspicions :)

Will be seeing Black Swan tomorrow, thank goodness for the local theater that gets smaller movies. I have a feeling that'll be a better film... just a hunch.
