i think you guys are mistaking a 'bad performance' with character traits when it comes to Michael Sheen's character. Michael played him that way because i'm pretty sure that's what the director wanted.

There are plenty of Oscar nominated films that are boring. There are plenty of non-Oscar nominated films that are awesome to its target audience (i.e. Dawn of the Dead remake). Don't go to watch this movie expecting There Will Be Blood, which I found to be downright boring for many parts of the film. I went into this movie, without ever having seen the original Tron, expecting an-action sci-fi flick with mind blowing visuals and effects. I got my money's worth. Full Price.

i haven'y gotten a chance to se this yet, but i bought the soundtrack last week. Daft Punk and Hans Zimmer made the perfect blend of orchestral and electonica, and it totally fitd the tone of the movie.

Also, Nothing wrong with using some flashbacks. But there are pros and cons to that. Using to many can make a movie feel bloated, and to little can make a movie boring. Guess Tron: Legacy choose the latter, a lil more flashbacks could've made up for that, for example when Quorra talks of how she survived, on that freighter ship. Also they should've called this the adventures of God and Jesus IN IMAX 3D BITCH!! not that I had a problem with some of the religous overtones within the movie, just something I observed and found kind of funny. Oh also good for Olivia Wilde a hot chick who can act, Keep it up. Looking forward to her career in the future. Oh this has nothing to do with the movie but Jeff Bridges should play Zeus if there ever is a God of war movie.

That aside there are some little things that are just wierd. Character problems, some evet that happened in the film just either come out of nowhere or happen and go unexplained. THE BIGGEST ONE, was Tron, I'm sorry but its not that someone wouldnt see that coming or not. But the fact that the movie gave no reason for it to happen it just fucking happens, it was REALLY REALLY WEAK reason. But thats probably because it was a disney movie, maybe i'm wrong to think that....maybe. The suequel will probably be much much improved.

My son was on that screen and his name was Clu 2, HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST PARTS OF THIS MOVIE, I WAS ROOTING FOR HIM. HE MADE ME WANT HIM TO WIN. HE was Bad-Ass, but he wasn't over the top, But he picked it up in the latter half of the movie. Damn near put a tear in my eye. That being said if there was a bit more of him, maybe a bit more of a back and forth between him and orignal flynn, I think it would've made up for the just lack of soul in certain parts of the movie. Co-host was right the facial animations definitly got better as the movie got closer to ending, which sucks when you think about it.

I gotta say, as much as i disagree w/ this review, this is still HILARIOUS and a great review.

I see what you guys are saying, especially how most of the action is in 1st half of the film, then gets boring sort of. And i heard most of the review before seeing it, so i expected it to be INSANE then BORING lol...and honestly I think thats what made me like it more, i expected the boring parts but it made me enjoy them much more since i knew it was coming.

Me and the 4 other people i went with all LOVED it though. (Saw The Fighter 2 days earlier and The Fighter is MUCH MUCH better as a film and story, and performances...but this movie is definitely thrilling and very well done..ok maybe just..well done lol).

Jeff Bridges is always good no matter what, and when you have him as the hero and villain, thats 1 point..then the BEAUTIFUL setting, thats another point...then the INTENSE WELL FILMED and perfectly scored "games" is atleast another 2 points. Lets just say this movie gets all those "points", but for dialogue, well that was just pretty cheesy most of the time...the dragged out parts never even bothered me though.

If this movie wasnt so gorgeous to look at and listen to, especially in 3D, well then the movie would have been kind of dumb and pointless. BUT PLENTY of things made up for the lack of character development and dialogue. it shouldnt be an excuse to make it like that...but it still worked in the end.

We all walked out just constantly referencing it that night, saying stuff like "damn, reality looks so boring compared to THAT 3D lol". i was joking but in a way, i was missing the amazing effects and that LIGHT CYCLE race stole the movie...that battle pretty much made this movie an automatic Full Price.

Wow. Not only did I get the feeling that the film was gonna turn out exactly the way you're describing it but Mark Kermode thinks the very same way. I'm so glad I trusted my instincts.

Completely disagree with the review. Tron did exactly what it was supposed to do. It took me on a fun thrill ride while I was in the theater. And while some of the twists and turns were familiar and even expected, that didn't detract from the fun. Maybe if it had Natalie Portman in it dancing around and more "emotion" y'all would have swooned all over it too. This was a fun movie, well worth the price of the ticket. FULL PRICE.

I have to agree with Mr. Bubbles. I think you guys are wears some seriously thick nostalgia goggles. Either that or the time you went sucked or you had a sucky experience in the theater. This movie wasn't smart (not in the sense we use it for nowadays), it was predictable, and it did have a few bits that could've been tweaked (CG Bridges LOL I'd have nightmares if I was 12 watching this. Thanks Uncanny Vally! : D). However, that being said, it was a perfect sequel to- wait, needed more Tron. Yeah, either change the title or put in more of the title character.
-Anyway, aside from that, this was the perfect sequel to Tron. Why? Tron had less story than this and was all about the visuals, and MF is this movie about visuals! Tron was nothing more than eye candy and a good time, and so is this. Sure if you go into it wanting a thick story you'll be disappointed. Shit, mate, what you think Tron 1 was the Matrix 1 or something (which even then, you know, "human batteries"... >_>)? You should rewatch the first Tron to get those goggles off. "Tron was about modern expressionism and-" No. It was about making people slack-jawed with special effects and giving people something to go "OOOH COOL!!" while have Jeff Bridges mug for the camera during slapstick. That whole artistic idea people slapped onto it came from years of interpretation and opinion. No matter what it did artistically for you, the original goal was: Go in wanting fun, get out having had fun

Tron Legacy was fun, man. Jeff Bridges was funny and kickass (and kinda playing himself in the role, but that's not a bad thing), Daft Punk was fucking insane with the music (my friend called this the "visual album to the real big seller, the soundtrack"), and as creepy as Clu looked throughout the majority of it he was a cool enough villain (I do think it should've had more of him, though).

In the end it was really only out to give 80's fans, Daft Punk fans, Jeff Bridges fans, and fans of the original movie a good time. To me and my friends, it succeeded.

Now if they make a sequel and Pirates 3 that bitch I'll burn down the theater ^_^

I enjoyed it, thought it had a good pace, and while it had its problems (story wise and the constant sequel bait) I enjoyed it and cant wait to buy it. Also, am I the only one who thought it should have been called "Flynn: Legacy"?

I enjoyed this movie. I was never bored at all, I really didn't think that there was a boring middle, and the beginning and ending were amazing.

    @ blake

I can understand where your coming from with D Dubya criticism, but I personally was not entertained by Avatar a lot of it for me was the fact James Cameron made so many amazing Sci-Fi movies back in the 80's and 90's then he made Titanic and started off on all these personal crusades in life "lost tomb of jesus, rasising the titanic, ghosts of the abyss" and instead of making what should have been another great sci-fi movie he made an environmental movie with pretty visuals, lackluster story, wooden acting.

When this is brought up how similar Avatar was to a lot of other movies he said it's not possible since he's James Cameron and what he did comes first, If you wanna make a movie to entertain then at least be subtle in your personal beliefs which Avatar was not.

Tron Legacy had it's issues but at least I walked out of that movie entertained, yeah if i could write a script i would, I have several great ideas for movies but for the life of me i was never any good in English classes and writing.

But it's interesting to see so many people criticize this movie who haven't seen it, Even though i Hated Avatar i still felt it was a movie you had to see in Theaters for the visuals and would tell anyone to see it and decide for themselves

Too bad such a cool looking movie did not hold up.  I remember being in awe of the weird and fun visuals of the first.  I wish they had made the movie more exciting.  Netlflix instant que for now.  Rather save my money for Black Swan.  Thanks for posting!
