This movie seriously fucking sucked. The 1942 animated film wasn't great but at least it was more original to the book. Jack Black is seriously starting to annoying me.

yeah I was hoping it would be good but every thing sucked

I strongly disagree - Brutal Legend was not great, in the least. I daresay it was one of the biggest disappointments of 2009.

wow, Jack needs to seriously re-evaluate his carrer. Brutal Legend was GREAT (hopefully Activision will green light 2 perminantly) but.... all his movies since, really king kong (P.O.D. was a Tenacious D movie really) and I really DESPISED this film.

They need to put him in a movie that SUITS JB, this is by far not one of them. but yea, this killed a BUNCH of carrers.

From what I remember, the moment where Gulliver pees on the castle is in the original novel. Swift just had the sense to be a little coy and apologetic about it.

That aside...well,what did we expect? Jack Black hasn't been good in movies in years.

That's exactly how this movie looked like it would turn out.

So when is Jack Black and Jennifer Anus Stain going to make a cheesy bad romantic comedy?

I can't speak to the quality of the rest of the film but the scene where "gulliver" pees on the castle to put out the fire you guys keep ragging on I'm pretty sure is actually presented the same way in the original book.

If you would've told me there was going to be a movie with little people looking at Jack Black's balls while he pisses on them I would've said "BAD ASS!!"

Hey Spill crew, great review and all, but you do know that the peeing scene was in Jonathan Swift's original classic novel that was published in 1726, right?

  • January 01, 2011 at 4:02 AM, Kenneth Logan Jr. said ...

Well that peeing scene was in the book as well, as much as juvenile it was it was in the 1726 book. It was also in the 1995 mini-series as well.

Jack Black is buying a car with this crap!  @None of Your Business Yeah, he was really memorable and good in King Kong.

last semi decent thing he did was voice acting for Brutal Legend

Jack Black wasn't that bad in the remake of King Kong.

He pees out the fire in the original story too.

I'm not saying that's an excuse, just in that specific instance, it's true to the source material

Nothing against Korey, I love him, but it's refreshing to hear a review without him in it.

I actually like alot of Jack Blacks movies, and I thought this movie was one of the biggest pieces of shit of the year. Nothing happens the entire movie it's like the director just fuck it all we have to do is get him to the island and let Jack run wild. And it fails just as much as you think it would. This movie is an embaressment to everyone involved. Jack buddy I love ya but you need to slow down on the movie career and get back to the D. Because man that's all I really want out of you after this movie is more Tenacious D.

this movie looked horrible from the first trailer.... so horrible that i didn't even want to listen to the review. But I did. You guys are right though; Jack Black's career is so dead.... I picked up the video game he did recently Brutal Legend and even that is stale, nothing is even remotely laughable.
