British cinema is notoriously dry (regardless of genre). A dry tone with this type of subject matter sounds like an existential film experience. Not something I would book on my calendar.

Sounds like a good film, just not something I'd enjoy seeing. Maybe I'll watch it out of fascination if I catch it on tv

Lol Cyrus, aren't you already happily married?

Nothing says lighthearted fun when you see two old couples dealing with other pathetic fifty year-old's who are trying to live on in their dreadful lives. Seriously, this sounds like something I could show my niece ;)

It had a very depressing ending. meaning that some people in life are just shat upon and need help - I didn't like that ending. Its not my favourite Mike Leigh film.

I don't know about other people, but I just love depressing films. I have immense respect for any movie that's able to get that kind of emotional reaction out of the audience.

I've been really interested in this film- for some reason, I'm really fascinated with age, so if a movie focuses on older people like this one does, i'm immediately intrigued. I think they're a really underrepresented bunch.

Cyrus, if you're looking for an antidote to the depressing effects of this film, I'd suggest "Strangers In Good Company", which is on Netflix- it's similar in that it examines a bunch of older women's lives. The premise is that a bunch of ladies are traveling via bus through the country and get stranded at this abandoned shed, but other than that it's essentially a documentary, with the women improving and telling their life stories to each other. They're all really interesting, fun personalities, and I think it's more cheerful than Another Year sounds. :)

Also... wow, the Harry Potter franchise has snagged quite a few respected British actors, eh? "Argus Filch", Imelda Stauton, Jim Broadbent...
