Finally watched this, and thought it was OK.  Not a good film, but a decent horror flick, esp. for one rated PG-13.

Obviously a lot of people hated it, and I'd ask them for recommendations for horror movies that they DO like, since I think as a culture we're just so jaded and so many themes and ideas have already been played out that it's nearly impossible to make a movie that the typical horror fan will find "scary."

I watched the movie twice, really trying to get why people like it. But NOPE, still don't get it! I saw every little thing coming. It made me laugh more than it made me scared, and I just started to wonder if the filmmakers didn't want people to take this movie seriously. It wasn't the events going on that scared me, cause I saw them coming, it was more those stupid loud noises which are constantly used in movies these days. And I'm always easily scared, so there's something missing IMO.

I agree that the first part had real potential, but as soon as the the second part came, I just laughed out loud and said: Man, fuck this movie! xD The "parapsychologists" were funny though.

I saw the movie , not scary at the slightest . I will agree at the beginning had tense moments , but the more the movie went on, it just got more sillier and sillier:P  The old lady should have had more screen time in this ,  she was the best part of it . The makeup should have been better then this , I saw only people in costumes , that's it!!!!!! for the most part anyway :P It's original , that's fine but for a horror geek like me , this is a really low matine or some old bullshit:P ....I will go with just a pass on this movie , had hight hopes since I saw paranormal activity movies, but this is just NOT scary to me.  I think I will give up on american horror movies for a while now , find some Asian horror flicks instead:D

"insidious" was like going into a haunted house and having someone tell you to be scared.  I felt like the filmmakers were sitting behind me at the start saying . "Look we got creepy music and squeaky floorboards.  Are ya Scared?"   "Well so far this looks promising" my mind would reply.    Later on I could hear the director whisper in my ear. " Look we got Tiny Tim's"Tiptoe through the tulips".  That shit's freaky, are ya scared now?"  "Now I'm just annoyed" I replied.

I liked this movie but I'll agree with the complaints about showing too much of the demon making him less scary. The show a little much in the end but I didn't think that the effects were nearly as bad as Korey made them out to be. I was genuinely afraid at some points. Even with the problems its well worth the cost of a movie ticket

The first half really was beyond tense and frightening. There were 4 other people in the theater and I was the guy screaming in the front row (begging for the movie to stop at times actually, I'm easily scared, that's why I love horror movies). The second half wasn't as good, but not nearly as bad as Korey makes it seem. Some bits didn't work, some were still terrifying as hell, overall this is a full price just for the first half of it.

@Mr King I was thinking the same thing.  Korey is being a little over dramatic with this film.

even though i would give this a full price...i saw it today at a matinee...on a dark rainy day...AND...i was the only one in a small dark theater w/ the volume loud.............i will happily admit i was pretty freaked out. sometimes i even laughed because it was so strange seeing something that was actually effective.

the paranormal guys did help for me (ok they didnt help, but they didnt hurt), because i DID laugh. i knew how corny they were..but that they were someone who could help, and bring comic relief...even if it isnt that funny.

i love all these reviews, and Korey is the man...but seriously...listen to Co-Host on this one. Infact if the 2nd half, although not as good as the 1st, was still very cool to watch.and had its moments too.

the 1st half i dont even want to get into because it is 1 of those rare movies that provide almost everything that i would consider scary. Honestly the one thing i "hated" about the movie...was the fact that it stuck w/ me so much.

I liked the movie to the point that the ending SORT OF bothered me...only because i liked the rest of it so much.

it had a VERY creepy atmosphere...and even had some great humor.

I would give it a full price...ONLY because it had plenty of "spooks" AND only cost about $900,000. Very impressive for this movie.

I love that there is a drawing of the saw puppet on the board in the classroom in the movie...

Also, i didn't even mind the jump scared in that one too much, i thought they all fit in the movie.

This is one of my new favorite horror films.  Will definently be added to my collection.

The part where she sees the thing behind bed when she goes into the baby's room freaked me out. Lol

The ending was a bit cheesy, but it was still an overall good film for me.

i loved this movie, now there isn't to say that it didn't have it's moments, because it did, but overall I thought that James Wan and Leigh Whannell (who played Specs, the paranormal guy with the glasses, as well as wrote this script *as well as the original Saw, and Dead Silence* but seems to be getting no credit, though he does deserve it) did an amazing job with this film, especially with the first half like they've said in the review. I love horror films, and have been searching for a good one that wasn't all gore for a while. I particularly love the scary movies from the 70s and 80s, and this is definitely a throwback to that, which is probably the reason I liked it so much. The two paranormal guys also reminded me of the 'Ghostfacers' from the Supernatural episode. When they showed up the 'Ghostfacers' theme started playing in my head. To me they were just the right amount of comic relief for the movie, though the end part with them was kind of cheesy....so yeah, I liked it, but that might be because I'm a fan of the Wan/Whannell duo....also did anyone else notice the drawing of the Saw dummy on the chalkboard with the '8' tie? Are James and Leigh trying to tell us something?
