I don't do anything this big or cool, but I do volunteer at a local animal shelter weekly and my doggy is adopted from that shelter. c: And I do petitions and letter writing with an occasional protest as well as do a city clean-up now and then, but yeah I do try to do what I can for the environment and animals. It's not a lot, but it's at least something, and I think that's the thing that matters the most. Even if it's small, doing something is still worth it, since everyone doing something can turn into something significant. [/PSA moment]

Interesting note about elephants, they really never forget, although that can also be a bad thing too. Elephants have been proven capable of holding grudges, so if you take away their family, that elephant will be filled with rage until one day it'll snap out of nowhere. An article here talks a little about PTSD in elephants: http://www.howstuffworks.com/elephant-memory.htm

Yeah... I'm obviously an animal lover, but I make a point to say that I don't only like the cute animals like some people, I love all animals, and quite obviously even the ones no one else likes... Like rats and bats.

i still want to catch this next time i go to boston...usually imax is expensive but its only $9.50 i think. i wish it was longer, but its still something i would want to see in 3D, because its the only time i would want to really get into it. Usually I dont even look forward to 3D, but this seems like it would be more immersive.

plus, as much as Morgan Freeman narrates...i cant help but enjoy it lol, he makes anything sound interesting.

And FYI: my college mentor goes to Africa once a year for field research and has been doing so since the 70s.  He grew up near a zoo and made his first research trip at 17 which set the path to where he is now.  So, yes, instilling these kinds of values of preserving nature at a young age works.  The stories he comes back with are awe-inspiring and I could listen to them for days.  It's an amazing experience even if I can only do so vicariously through him at this point in my life.

I'm a Sustainability major and volunteer at the Field Museum.  Just finishing up my Biodiversity class for this semester, too.  Am I going to this movie?  HELL YEAH!  Am I taking taking some of my fellow SUST majors with me?  YOU BET!  Are we gonna be drunk?  EVENTUALLY!!

Yeah, for the most part the cute fuzzy AWWWWWWW animals are the ones who are the poster critters for conservation.  Orangutans, elephants, big cats, butterflies and pretty flowers evoke more emotion than naked mole rats, mold and bacteria, which are also important to the environment and require attention.  That's what biodiversity is all about and while this movie may not really push that message with a stick, it's very important that these issues be made aware of.  And this is a still a great way to expose everyone to such topics in regards to protecting wildlife and the environment.

Shit, I'm not on my school's discussion board!!  What the FUCK is wrong with me?!!  Ah, screw it, still in "GOTTA GET THAT 'A' MODE!!"  ;)

To be fair, I'm a geology major so that rocks documentary they talk about sounds like something I want to see.  Plus, I've always been fascinated with astronomy and the space program, so I think the shuttle thing is also something I'd like to see.
