    lol laughed out loud at this review, I wish there were more Christian movies that were less cheesy but there aren't.

    There needs to be a Soul Surfer2 where she's mean, keen and out for revenge swimming the oceans hunting the shark who bit her

    I think that most Christians are just so tired of the media at large treating religion with such venom that, if a movie comes out with religious sensibilities, they will naturally flock to it. Even though a majority of Americans are Christian in name, it's pretty rare to get something that portrays the faith in a non-negative light in the media at large

    this review is too funny, but as a free will christian, can i ask that you look at it from my point of veiw?

    because god didn't make that shark attack her, the shark attacked her because that's what sharks do, you know? they attack things, sometimes humans by accident.

    of course, this is just my point of veiw. i just find it funny that cyrus thinks god goes around making sharks attack people and throwing rocks and then saving them.

    Well, the thing about these kinds movies-especially the marketing behind them-is that Christians predominate this country by such a large degree, you are bound to get a good chunk of them to come see your movie if play on the religious angle. The reason why none of us heard this is probably because most people on Spill and im guessing all of the spill crew either aren't christian or don't have time to go to church cause that's really were you get most of the buzz for things like this. When i used to go to church...back when i was about 10 years old or so they were telling kids for god-sake, kids my age at the time to go see mel gibsons the passion. Everyone was talking about it every Sunday school, everyone wanted to see it and everyone did. Christians just get really excited about anything released for them, and it really shows in the massive turn outs there capable of having at these films with such underground, grass-roots promotion.

    Actually most shark attack occur becuase they mistake people on surf boards for seals. Becuase from below a person laying on the board paddling w/ thier arems and feet has a similar profile to seals. This is also why sharks generally dont flat out kill people. Like this shark but this girls arm off but didn't like stick around to finish her off. Because after the first bite sharks recognize that, oh shit this isnt a seal. and normally let go and swim away. Leaving the person w/ just w/e injury they sustained.

    The guy in 127 hours had to cut his arm off because nobody knew where he was and would not be coming for him.  That was stupid.  The girl in this movie was in the wrong place at the wrong time.  What makes them heroes is the fact that even though they are down one limb they still do what they love.  That is also how they contribute to the world.  They inspire other people who have lost a limb or is disabled that they really can do anything they set their mind to.  Hell they're inspiring people who aren't disabled too.

    Actually, and this is in Soul Surfer's favor, this reminds me of Eat Pray Love. Julia Roberts is an incredibly rich, shallow woman with no real problems who travels the world for a year, eats a lot and listens to BS philosophy. Here, a girl who suffers a really cruel trauma at a young age finds herself through religion and helping others. Doesn't make it great, but it does keep it from being offensive and shallow.

    @Xinmodic

    Hu-wha? I'm sure any sport has its own set of dangers, but shark attacks don't really happen all that often to make them a common (or usual) threat for surfers (or anyone one else who enjoys water related activities). I'm not saying this girl is a hero, but the movie does sound like a feel good story about perseverance (and if people enjoy watching that kind of thing, good for them).

    I also wouldn't call her an idiot for wanting to do what she enjoys. That is unfair. Are you saying she's going to be bitten by a shark again? Or that she's stupid because anything bad could happen? Sure there are dangers, but it seems like you're suggesting she's somehow at fault for what happened to her (unless I'm misinterpreting).

    @Paradox

    im saying theyr idiots for going out doing the same thing that just got their arm cut off. And if her dream maby had something to contribute to the world, and not just herself then she would be a hero.

    I get that the spill crew is super busy and can't all go to see every movie, but these 1 person reviews don't usually work that well. The guys who haven't seen the movie end up making judgements on something they haven't seen just so it isn't one person talking the whole time. I know it's not possible for all 4 of you to see these smaller movies but it would be a lot better if you could try and get 2 people to see everything you review. Just my 2 cents, keep up the awesome job guys.
