    You haven't seen the movie, obviously you haven't seen the movie, I'm going to point something out that may blow your mind, Everyone's views on every film is subjective. You know what I like in a movie, something happening, anything happening, if you like looking at sand or paint drying fine, go watch that.

    BTW When YOU type random WORDS in CAPS, read IT OUT loud and SEE if it MAKES sense.

    I've never watched the move so I can't say, BUT YOUR VIEWS ON THIS FILM IS SUBJECTIVE. Not EVERYONE has to have stimulation during movies!!! I probably wouldn't like this movie, but SERIOUSLY??

    People often say that when you translate a video/computer game int oa movie things go wrong.

    Meek's Cutoff sounds like this to me: 'Oregon Trail: The Movie.' Only not as interesting. Maybe what this film needed was a dramatic climactic river fording scene.

    ..should I be concerned that I find it rather a turn-on when Cyrus gets angry?

    That south park episode spells it out perfectly. Sometimes really shitty artsy movies come out and nobody wants to be the one to say it's shit because there afraid to look stupid. It's the real life story of "THe Emperor's New Robes"

    This is an amazing film if you're an "arthouse" filmgoer.

    Just don't go expecting an exciting Western or an acting showcase for Michelle Williams or Paul Dano (thankfully, no histrionics in this one)

    @Fernando Luis
    Kevin isn't really complaining about the fact that carlyle isn't in the reviews anymore, he's just wondering WHY he isn't... Did I miss some sort of back story on this? Is there any specific reason why he isn't in the reviews anymore?

    @mst3k4evur

    2001 is about the mysteriousness of space, the possibility of omnipotent and omniscient species and our evolution. It makes sense that it has the tone it has.

    I loved this review. It's nice to hear that some critics aren't afraid to criticize an art film (in the case of Meek's Cutoff, I use the term "art" loosely...I should probably use the term "film" loosely too).

    By the way, to anyone who's up for a good laugh I suggest that you read Armond White's review of this film. He's the ONLY movie critic who can write about a film's "rich subtext" or "allegorical mis-en-scene" and STILL give it a negative review, as is the case with Meek's Cutoff.

    He thinks that the movie is an allegory for the War in Iraq, and that the movie "implies castration"; reading that sentence alone made me howl in laughter.

    Reminds me of 2001 A Space Odyssey. Everyone tells me it's deep but all I see is a boring, badly underwritten film that substituted effects for story and characters.

    This to me sounds like the review I gave Winter's Bone.

    Carlyle still does the "A Couple of Cold Ones" podcast every week with Leon and Korey.

    If I were to judge the movie just based on this review, I would think that this movie is basically The Emperors New Clothes: The Movie. I doubt I will ever see it, though I will give it the benefit of the doubt and assume that not all critics are raving about this because it makes them seem more sophisticated.

    Wow It seems like this movie was trying to everything that the russian film stalker did well. Have a deep sub context, have captivating cinematography and have long periods of nothing but highlighted by the character's be paranoid. But no it stead it simply fucking fails at existence. Add to that fucking critic are swooning over this goddam film. It's this kind of film that makes people pissed off at critics.

    I enjoy this website's reviews a whole lot, and you all seem like pretty cool guys. But this is one of the worst critiques that has ever been put up here. This film is obviously intended for a very specific audience and while disliking it is just fine, flying off the handle hardly has any value.
