I remember the Ip Man movies, so much hate at white people. Which is racist and all that but it was just so goofy it was sorta funny. Awesome fight scenes though, which is all those movies are about. Another great review! It was like listening to a podcast.

THIS MOVIE GO SOOO HARD!!  I have to put this in my top 5 slots for best martial arts films(meaning that something gets bumped out).  Fans of Yuen Woo Ping's fight choreography work will be extremely happy with this film, and I am speaking as a guy who pretty much followed Woo Ping's work throughout the years.  He NEVER disappoints, at the most you might see a fight move or two that you've seen before, but that's only because fans have seen just about ALL of his stuff.  Woo Ping went to the same Peking Opera School as Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, & Yuen Biao.  He just graduated before they got there, and focused his knowledge on perfecting fight choreography, more than flying around on the movie screen himself.  A wise choice, because he is currently the best there is, in my opinion.  And no, he did not work on Drunken Master2(Legend of the Drunken Master), that was another director/choreographer/actor Jackie Chan fell out with in the middle of production.  But I digress.  True Legend is top notch and a good starting point for showing off "newcomer" Jay Chou's(Kato of Green Hornet) fighting skills as the God of Wushu.  Even Gorden Liu makes an appearance.  I stop now, because compared to other new kung-fu i've seen lately, I can't give this movie enuff praise(well IP Man 1&2 were good).  Definitely worth the $12-$20 on dvd when it releases, and definitely worthy of your kung-fu collection.   (Oh, "Woo Ping yo' ass".....rofl... that was gold!)

Honestly it's been so long since I've seen a good fight scene. I hate how fighting is filmed in movies nowadays. I might check it out just to see some good fighting.

I do not like wire work so I probably will not check this out.  I probably will rewatch Ip Man and some Bruce Lee instead.

Ip Man is definitely one of the best, if not THE best to have made in the past decade. Jet Li's Fearless is a close second and Warlords is a really great movie too.  Ip Man 2 is alright, but falls into a cliched westerner vs easterner final fight. John Woo has made a comeback into wuxia with his Red Cliffs movie and he produced Reign of Assassins, another good movie. Detective Dee is a fun movie that has received mixed reviews as well as Bodyguards and Assassins. But the number film that takes the cake is 13 Assassins, by Takashi Miike

"Show me how you can break this China man's neck" - David Carradine

Would it involve auto-erotic asphyxiation? oooooooh too soon?

I saw this movie months ago and loved the first half. It had good choreography and was really a classic throwback to the Shaw Brothers Wuxiia genre. Then the second half came and it went to total shit. The Drunken Boxing in this movie was far to exaggerated. In the current revival of hong kong period movies, this was one of the weakest. It is a low rental on the edge of being some ole bullshit.

Alcohol to Chinese people is like Mountain Dew to White People and Rap to Black People; we feel F&*KEN INVINCABLE! Except the chinese man will never be touch, white people would fall down a mountain and go to the hospitle, if they're lucky and the black guy would go over his head and be shot multiple times in the balls.

@ Kai:  There was no Ip Man 3. You're confusing unrelated film series... I think you're thinking of Ip Man: The Legend is Born, which is in no way related to Donnie Yen's Ip Man films (It just confusingly has alot of the same actors playing totally different characters)
