  I’m sure this shit is for Americans who haven’t travelled. Those who have travelled and seen what it’s really like in foreign countries would probably cry bullshit on this kind of film. Not to say the rest of the world sucks, it doesn’t (I am myself one of those ‘Not-Americans’ types), but we in the rest of the world are three dimensional types who don’t really give a shit enough about your problems to tell you all our ‘secrets about life’.   Why does race so often get brought up? MOST of the time its completely irrelevant and not funny whatsoever. SOMEONE always has to add in something racial. Being white doesn't have much to do with go on a year long trip. Sure, you could argue that its more difficult for minorities (which, I agree, it is) but that's not at all what the character in this movie is about, sure, she's a bitch, but that's not cause she's fucking white. By the way, I haven't ever seen this movie, it looks horribly boring, so correct me if I'm wrong.

  Good review, but I have zero interest in seeing this. Like Leon said, I'm tired of stories about sane, white, upper middle-class people with no real tragedies in their lives going out to 'find themselves'. Eat, Prey, Love would've been the better film :P

  I hate people like this. Especially Rich people who spend all their time trying to find themselves. I used to be one of those "find your inner self" nut jobs. Truth be told there isn't anything profound to find. Do what you love to do and be who you feel comfortable being. Don't try to impress and be happy with what you have. Once you get that right there isn't any deep truths or inner peace mumbo jumbo to find. I am a history teacher working towards becoming a professor. I paint, write, and sew in my free time. I watch Dr. Who religiously and I live in a small apartment with my bulldog. I am the happiest man on earth. I don't need to blow all my money "finding myself" or feeling guilty because I am an American.
