    why have a family if you have nothing but a horrid life to offer them ? I would like to see a movie about what thought proses went into getting married and then having children when you have absolutely nothing to offer to them .

    Fun fact: I know the Assistant Director for this movie.  He invited me as a guest to see a special Directors Guild screening of the film and then there was a Q and A with the director.  I ended up loving it.

    Probably the biggest reason for the massive influx of illegal immigrants is the downturn in the mexican agriculture industry. with the free trade brought on by NAFTA, mexican farmers couldn't compete with the highly subsidized big american agribusiness.

     Hence, with the failure of the business, impoverished mexican farmers had little choice except head across the border. contrary to popular belief, free trade can at times kill more jobs than it creates.

    " @Einrick Quiznos Come on, people don't cross over to the u.s. for your social programs,they cross it because they know they can live better with just 6 $ an hour.And please, stop this bullshit.You don't like them because the way they look, simple as that.Nazis at least said the truth. "

       My dearest Fernando. Allow me to interject you strange and bold assertions about myself: firstly, I'm a MEXICAN AMERICAN. Secondly, these "social programs" you just theoretically forced upon me wouldn't just be considered mine, it would be OUR social programs. You see, If your profile is correct, you also are a Mexican American living in El Paso, Tx(if you're here legally, that is). That would mean that these programs are associated with citizens of the same country in your strange little argument whether you like it or not, Capitan Revolución. And finally, if there was any respect I had for you(through anonymity of the internet, that is), it has completely been lost by your wild assumption of me being a racist because I don't like my people because of the way they look...dumbest fucking thing I've heard in a while.

       Do yourself a favor, grow out of this "lone revolutionary fighting against the repressive Republicans" role you've placed yourself in, and act like a sane person. Yes, there are racists in the world, and they won't disappear as long as there are different cultures about, and fear is maintained in the human psyche. Fear leads to ignorance, and ignorance to hate. You seem to be traveling along that path by placing unassuming users in whatever magical "angry racist" category you've thought up that day. Let....it...go.

       By beginning this argument, you're placing yourself within the same group of morons who immediately jump on ANY news posts or AP media political updates with "Obama hate" posts, and "racist illegal" rants. I find it sad that a person of your age and intellect can't realize this.

    Really, grow up, and turn your vivid energy to something resourceful.

    "The film that us to respect the illegal laborers we have here at spill"  Not trying to be a grammar nazi, but I'm wondering if that's correct and I just don't know how to read it.  Or you dun goofed.

    @Adam Smith - Define "comfortably." I've heard so many horror stories of perfectly legal citizens on welfare and stamps who are either just scraping by or living in squalor. I'm literally sitting in front of my computer laughing at the thought of a family just waiting on those welfare checks to roll in and relaxing in the sun.

    I'm against illegal immigration, but it disgusts me when people talk about the situation like they're not humans. There is a decent and ethical way to address the issue that does not dehumanize them. If a Korean guy comes to America and stays after his visa has expired, no one bats an eye despite how ever many social programs he takes advantage of. But a Mexican who comes over because there is drought or no jobs from whatever village he comes from and just needs a job to take care of his family - I see a ton of people equate him with a cockroach.

    I agree that the U.S. needs to enforce their laws, but the Arizona bill was just racist from the get-go. Giving an officer the ability to check immigration status based on "probably cause?" I've yet to hear anyone explain what "probably cause" is, and even then it strongly implies that the bill targets HISPANICS when in fact there are illegal immigrants from almost everywhere in the world. I'm sorry, that's unethical.

    I'm Cuacasian and I do feel for this guys situation. But the problem I have is for every guy like this who I think should be welcomed into this country you get a much greater ration of people like his son and the people who form the gangs such as these and that is not a product of situation that is a choice to embrace violence and greed. And does just as much to perpetuate their situation as any lack of opportunity they may have.

    ...and you guys should bring the racial jokes down a notch. I would honestly appreciate it :)

    Dang, my parents must really be old fashioned. They waited only 9 years to have their immigration application go through to come here LEGALLY instead of taking a shortcut and breaking the law.

    @Fernando Luis

    You are concluding that everyone's a racist because they oppose illegal immigration. Many Americans not only have problems with illegals (or undocumented immigrants, whatever you prefer) because of the social issues, but because many Mexicans/Latinos dislike the US and live here regardless or those who were born here would much rather consider themselves Mexican (or another nationality) than American, which is insulting.

    Ah, we meet again. Well, technically you're right, since the Mexican government did outlaw American immigration to Texas by 1829. But hey, Manifest Destiny and all that.
