I watched it today and there was nothing in there about his death being kept secret for a short period of time.

I still can't believe the Academy left this out of the list of nominees for the Oscar for best documentary.

If you want to know the mechanics of how this accident happened : the NGC documentary series "Seconds from Disaster" did a good show on it.

PS: F1's popularity is most comparable to soccer to anyone living in the North America. If your roots aren't from somewhere else in the world it would just fly over your head.

I'm really glad you guys loved this movie. Hope Leon gets a chance to see it and tells us what he thinks on Acoco.

After I heard about this movie from Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear UK was pumped for it. I loved it a lot and Co-Host was right. If you already know it's coming you are gripping for it.

Leon as for no one dying in F1 since then it's pretty true. In the Canadian Grand Prix of 2007 a BMW F1 driver went air borne and wrecked his car. He walked away to come back 2 years later and win the race that almost took his life.

Not the best video quality but the best camera angle of it.

If you want to know who's who in F1, best drivers are usually Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button, Mark Webber and Louis Hamilton.

They're playing this on TV in Romania so I was lucky enough to see it a few times but I've always known how much more was going on at the time with Senna and in F1 so it felt incomplete. Nice to know there's a longer version out there.

    @Witten
The extend version have more cuts, during the scenes, to commentaries from people who knew him like journalist, his rival Prost and etc. I would suggest watching the theatrical 106min first, then the extended version for some more deep understanding behind everything

I wanna see this so bad.

If you know anything about Senna's death you would know that everything the crew went through towards the end of the review was pretty much exactly what happened; The film did show a clip of Senna and his g/f on a scooter during the build up to Imola, his g/f was about to come and live with him in his new home in Portugal for the European part of the F1 season. You could not write this shit. If you have an interest in Senna and the fateful days surrounding his death check this out  http://www.forix.com/8w/senna1994.html its a mighty read but its worth it!!

Prost wasn't supposed to be portrayed as the ultimate villain but the ultimate rival.

He made his peace with Senna near the end. Senna sent him a message before his last race that he missed Prost (probably his competition).

A lot was cut out i guess.

Balestre, the old director guy makes for a better "villian".

Ironically I never new about Senna until I watched a youtube video of a recent F1 crash. One of the drivers went out of his car to check on the other guy. A comment mentioned that this reminded him of Senna going out of his car to check to save Eric Comas.

I searched up that video, then went on to the tribute by Top Gear which mentioned this movie.

Then I listened to this review of the movie.

Then I got a copy of the extended version of the movie.

They should have seen the 2h40 version of the movie. It's slower, sure. But the interviews that are cut in give a lot of insight. Sometimes very touching.

I'm so glad you guys reviewed this movie/documentary. I loved the movie, but I'm a Brazilian, fan pf Senna and Formula 1, so i was curios for a review by someone completely impartial. I'm Happy that you guys liked. By the way, the first cut had 7 hours, there is even a 3h blue-ray edition being sold here with various commentary from people who knew him like journalist, his rival Prost and etc. For the theater release the director chose for smaller version with less people commenting (or bubble head commentary as he says), he decided to let senna do the talk

    1. Senna dying isn't really a spoiler.

    2. You pronounced Alain Prost wrong. The -rost is pronounced like roster, P-rost.

Despite the nitpicks, I'm glad you guys reviewed it. I'm glad that any American actually seen this documentary.
