Hmmm, you guys sold me, I think I'm going to go and check it out tommorrow. It sounds like it may just frustrate me, but if the performances are solid and the build up is as good as you say, sounds like it might be right up my alley.

I have to agree more with Korey and Cyrus in that i felt the tension in this movie and the ambiguity of the ending added to the movie and I thought about for several days after I saw it and the performance of Elizabeth Olsen is amazing.

I tend to agree with Leon on reviews, but I still want to see this movie just see if this Olsen girl can act.

Glad you guys reviewed this. Got to see it a few months ago at a screening and Q&A. I loved every moment of it, one of my favorites of the year. I highly disagree with Leon on that most of the middle portion is slow and doesn't seem to matter. It is arguably the most important and intriguing part of the story. The slow build up, figuring out what happens piece by piece, adds to the mystery and suspense of it all. Also, I love the ending. It isn't about what happened next. The point of the ending, which the director mentioned at the screening, is to make you and Martha feel that sense of uncertainty. The audience and her do not really know what is going to happen, will they attack them? Will nothing happen? The simple fact that Martha is that shaken, so disturbed, and these sorts of things are going through her mind at that final moment are meant to show the devastating results of those sorts of cults. Like with Korey it stuck with me for a long time. It is a haunting, and fairly accurate portrayal of cult life and human manipulation.
