    @Santos

    Whoops, my bad. It does sound like the name of a Marvel comics vailain, now that I think about it.

    @illchard

    @Jojotogi ,

    Thanks for renaming me. I know it was a mistake, but that actually sounds cool. Makes me sound like a super villain. Beware the wrath of Stanos!

    @illchard - to be fair, there are a LOT of rich white people in parts of Hawaii, Oahu in particular. They don't tend to interact with locals unless they have to, and most of the time they don't speak or act like locals much either. The film even brings that up at one point.

    @ Stanos - he was actually pretty solid. Much better than his days as Freddy Prinze Jr.'s sidekick in those teen slashers and Scooby Do, that's doe sure.

    How was Matthew Lillard in this? I'm personally not a fan of Payne's movies, but when I read that (a much older) Matthew was playing a serious role it immediately grabbed my attention. So, how was he?

    A good, solid film. Not an instant masterpiece, but a great effort from Alexander Payne, who's been out of the spotlight for too long, and a solid performance from George Clooney. Though I never bought once that he was born and raised on Oahu, let along part Native Hawaiian.

    It is Cloon's year. He's easy to type caste, but he picks good movies and shows enough range to be legit.

    Also loved the fact that the main antagonist was already near death from the beginning, and as the movie went along you hated her more and more. But you never really got a big confrontation because, well she was already dead.

    This was truly an amazing film. It is not only by FAR the best movie of 2011 but it also restored by faith in movies, a faith shattered by a summer of predictible action movies and unfunny rom-coms. Compelling from beginning to end, filled with terrific performances and teaches a major lesson that life is a series of unforseen events that we all must overcome. Major props to Jim Rash (AKA Dean Pelton from the greatest show on TV Community) and Nat Flaxon. And I mean no other movie this year even came close to being as good as this one. To compare it to any other movie this year would be an insult.

    WHAT'S DEAN GOT TO DO WITH IT? He co-wrote the screenplay. No seriously. He co wrote it

    I really liked this. It had a good mix of comedy so the drama wasn't too heavy-handed.

    I saw this the day before Thanksgiving and I love this movie. I thought acting was great, the story was deep, and the music was superb. Better than Sex.
