  @Kyle Voltti They are becoming cliche. It's a shame, too, because I feel as though the 'Found Footage' genre is one that has a lot of potential. It's disappointing to see that because it's the "new" big thing (even though it's not; Cannibal Holocaust much?), there are a lot of found footage movies coming out that just seem so lifeless; that look as though they're only using the fact that it's found footage as a selling point. I can't for the life of me remember the title, but when I saw The Devil Inside, I saw the trailer for a movie where four dudes get telekinesis or something and they film it. The whole thing just rang insincere for me.

  *SPOILERS AHEAD*

  More on topic, though: The Devil Inside was just utter garbage. In spite of the fact that I hated the movie while I was watching it, I did get engaged in the plot at the very end, and then was incredibly pissed when they pull the rug out from under you and give you the tired excuse for an ending of saying, "ITS STILL UNRESOLVED GO TO THIS WEBSITE LOL WE HAVE YOUR MONEY NOW." I stood up in the theatre and yelled FUCK YOU!

  @Obscene Otter You're right, Cannibal Holocaust did it first (as far as we know ;|), but Blair Witch was the first found footage movie that was a commercial success and certainly the first one to be popular.

  These directors still need to master pacing, but I really like the idea and style of the genre. My favorite found footage movie is The Blair Witch Project, but I think that even that movie has problems with pacing and structure. We still have yet to see the perfect found footage film, and we'll eventually see the genre mature into a staple of film if it keeps making money.

  Number one at the box office (34 million).  What the hell?!  From now on movie producers will just whip out a freaking camcorder and take the money they would have spent on actors, lights, cameras and spend it on hookers and blow.  That is, unless we're talking about comedies, at which point the studios just need to keep forking money over to the likes of Friedberg and Seltzer.  The day I crack is the day everyone reads about a crazy man being arrested for macing people waiting behind the velvet rope  waiting to see Paranomal 6 or F&S's Shitty Movie.

  If you want to watch a competent exorcism movie where the possessing entity actually acts smartly to hurt the people around the posessee and there's actually a few interesting/innovative plot points, watch Exorcismus (it's a spanish crew filiming british actors, hit netflix pretty recently). Good looking lowbudget movie that avoids the "found footage" cliche while incorporating some of that subgenre's ideas.

  How strange, when I saw this there were also some guys behind me that kept talking and their cellphone kept ringing. My problem with the exorcisms was that there was no method to it.   After reading about the ending, it sounds like every bad found-footage movie mixed with that crappy golf movie you guys reviewed earlier in the year (Seven Days Of Bullshit, or something like that?)
