I just got back from seeing Underworld: Awakening and although parts of it were confusing...This movie was more mystery/action packed than I thought the last Underworld movie...I would give this movie between the Highest Full Price and Better than Sex as it kept me wanting to know more and to uncover what was happening during the movie.

The movie was a bit short and for the 14 bucks I had to pay I would have liked to see more story or action both would have been ok. I hope they make another because if this is the direction the movies are going I want more!!

What are you talking about - 88 minutes??? It's a 60-minute film with 20 minutes of credits at the end and 10 minutes of intro summarizing the first three film plot points. Certainly it's amazing when Stephen Rhea does his thing (homage to Interview with The Vampire) and Celine is hot as hell and fun to watch, but.... I was let down at how SHORT an Episode this film is. I have seen HBO/Showtime 60-minute films longer than this. Not saying it was not a fun ride, but it could have been given a tiny bit more breathing room and even more action and story.

Saw this earlier today in RealD 3D. It probably wasn't quite as effective as Imax 3D, but it was still in a stadium seating sized screen...so it was pretty big, good surround sound, and RealD and it KICKED ASS.

I saw the last 3 in theaters, hoping I'd see some good Vampire vs. Lycan showdowns..and although there were some, I was always either bored, or it was forgettable later on that night. Saw the trailer for this months ago and I thought "wow, IDK if that will be like the last ones, but damn, that looks much more vivid, clear and intense".

The last ones I didn't hate, but you just get kinda bored with it as it moves along. Taking place in the city though, and having it feel more like a Daybreakers / zombie scenario where there are too many infections and they have to purge the city of infected...started off the movie with a blast (literally underwater).

Sure the acting / plot and plenty of other things were sort of dull...I never even felt annoyed by it, I was never bored, and even the few slower parts were pretty important scenes and always had my attention. It needed those parts to allow the audience to breathe for a minute and then SLICE, BANG, BOOM it just keeps going with the action...luckily in a good way.

There's plenty of movies that have TONS of action, which actually makes the movie suffer. Here though, every action scene felt different, they all were VERY easy to watch without too many close-ups where you cant see shit, it was bloody (some parts were almost disgusting, and I see bloody movies all the time)...and that sequence in the garage, HOLY SHIT!!! It felt like Selene was battling an infected Donkey Kong I swear!!! Instead of barrels though, they were vehicles, being tossed around or slammed into...making me wonder now, HOW MANY CARS WERE DESTROYED IN THIS MOVIE?

This is a January gem I gotta say, its so hard to find movies in January (besides Oscar nominated movies that stick around allllllllllll Winter), but THIS is what I've waited for with this series.

I was worried that you guys would totally disagree which is obviously fine, but then I thought "nah, this had too many good parts for them to hate on it completely", I feel like I should reccomend it to friends as a 'matinee', cause thats what I saw it as...but honestly, it felt like a 'full price' cause if I paid more, I wouldnt have felt ripped off at all!!! I usually think movies this short should be longer, BUT in this case it was perfect...it didn't overstay it's welcome, but to the point it actually made me want to see more.

When she was talking at the end (like usual with her narration) I was like "aww" cause I wanted even more. The lycans were pretty detailed (sometimes it made me look at all their wrinkles, scars, fur and everything else cause they seemed really detailed, I mean the last movies were too, but this time it seemed clearer, and less black&blue tint, which is what the last ones felt like, black & blue movies lol).

I definitely enjoyed every second of this. I even usually think Michael Ealy is a pretty good actor, but when he appeared as a detective, it made me think of so many other movies like this, where the detective is useless and just a waste of time, while here...his character was pretty important, and added something towards the end. Plus you quickly hear about his past and it makes sense why isn't freaked out by Kate Beckinsale lol. He was even funny and provided enough comic relief, even though his character was serious so they never over exaggerated any character...they just served their purpose.

Surprisingly too, this DID have some plot advancements, enough to keep you interested and wondering what they could create out of it next. I walked in thinking only about the action, hoping it would be good...and not only was I impressed (hard to believe I'm saying that about an Underworld movie), but adding to the plot a little bit more was JUST ENOUGH to make

As a fan of this film series I found this entry to be pretty lackluster. Yea that action was entertaining at times and could distract you as the guys had said. But I was always interested in the lore they had set up however hokey some might think it is. But this movie didn't really get into any of that. Love seeing Beckinsale back cause like Cyrus I'd just see her in anything but I was just hoping for more.

@ Liquid I felt the same way!!! I was like this going great and then the movie cut off...??? lol The Movie was hour and a half.. wtf?? The movie freaking awesome just wish it could have been 30mins longer...other than that Full Price!!! :)

My biggest complaint with this movie is that it's a little short. The credits rolled and I wanted a little more. Otherwise I think they did a very good job and I have to say that a Matinee rating is just too low for this movie. It's a Full Price for me even though I wanted more by the end.

You guys didn't mention that this entire movie was nothing but 90 minutes of "hide the Michael", which was annoying, especially for anyone that was starting to enjoy the films as a saga.

I just hope I can enjoy this in a regular theater. I'm fan of the series so I don't think it will that big of a deal if I don't see it in IMAX but the way Cyrus and Co-host describe its a must.

Ugh I can live with the fact that I paid 15 bucks to go see this in IMAX 3D , but I hate the fact that so many people are praising this movie saying its good. Maybe the worst of the series, maybe not as bad as part 3, but still really bad. But fuck a story, I saw this movie cuz this review said there was non-stop action throughout the whole thing, which is NOT the case. There are about 3 fight scenes which are pretty bad ass, and the sound is amazing. But this still doesn't make up for the bullshit scenes of dialogue and boringness in between them. Spill, this really is the first time you really let me down, fuck this movie, its dogshit

So critically hated but fan loved, screw it making my own opinion and seeing it on Sat. Never saw any of the others so hopefully that doesn't impede my liking of it.
