Definitely some old bullshit.  I watched this in Imax 3D this morning because I was entertained by Journey 1's playful use of 3D and even the human elements of the script and the acting.  Journey 2's levels of implausibilities does kill this sequel but worse is the acting and characters.  This could have been directed by Brian Levant, it's characters are painted with ridiculously broad strokes -- made worse when they attempt to resound (Guzman for his daughter and Johnson's own abandoned past (with a little Cain in there).  Michael Cain is little more than an older happy-go-lucky Hoagy from Jaws The Revenge and Luiz Guzman might as well have been wearing a tee shirt with "Comic Relief" on it -- he wore out his welcome before the helicopter ever took off.  I went in not expecting much and I got a whole lot less.  All you guys were right on the money, especially Korey, with that "and then this happened, and then this happened, and then...."  Low budget films NEED a great screenplay and performances to succeed because they don't have anything else to fall back on, and that should also be the same regarding a movie with a big budget at stake.  Very disappointing.  If you don't mind cardboard-thick characters, enjoy.  I would say this is a bearable movie to watch with your child...but definitely not enjoyable.  My two cents at any rate.

Am I the only one that is thinking this should be called Journey 2: Electric Boogaloo. No insult towards the film, but I cannot stop thinking there should be an Electric Boogaloo to it.

@Jon, fixed your post for you...

"being a die-hard Vanessa Hudgens fan... my opinion is completely biased. Regardless of the quality of anything she is in, I will always say I enjoyed it."

I give this a solid Matinee. This is the perfect movie for a family to see together on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. It's not high art. It's a visually fun roller coaster ride that is filled with action, makes great use of 3-D, and doesn't try to be anything more than a fun time. I saw it with my kids, everyone had fun, and we left the theater happy. Worth the money spent in my book.

being a die-hard Vanessa Hudgens fan I enjoyed this movie regardless of the reviews

its great for the whole family to enjoy the visuals are vibrant, lush and outstanding and you gotta see it in 3D just for the spectacle involving giant lizards, giant birds, centipedes, spiders and bees theres some interesting family dynamics goin on here however brief it is

Vanessa Hudgens is awesome as always and Josh Hutcherson gets to become his own the action sequences are shot phenomenonally, too

I think the script could have been tightened a little more but the kids will certainly enjoy the mindless, CGI fest and adventure-esque feel and Luiz Guzman is hilarious as comic relief

I think the ending was a bit of a downfall though cause its making me worry how they're gonna tackle the next story by Jules Verne who knows....I mean the moon seems a bit out there (how in the world can they do that period?)

lol maybe the reason why CoHost hasn't gotten rating cards yet is because he keeps handing out the S.O.B.S.s' so much lately.

I looked up both the first movie and Faster in hopes that this was made before The Rock decided to go back to the tough guy roles and they just released this now, but no such luck because those movies were only two years apart. Dammit!

Goddamn it, Rock! I've recently been on a WWF Attitude Era nostalgia binge, looking up old vids on YouTube, and was just riding high on the fond memories of such superstars like Austin, Undertaker, Kane, Mankind and the fucking ROCK and then this movie comes smack out of nowhere and kills the moment. STOP doing kids' films.

Wasn't Brendan Fraser the uncle in the first one? I thought they were in search of the father in the first only to find out he died.

Don't get me wrong the movie sucked and I don't care to watch the second but still.

I looked up The Mysterious Island on Wikipedia and the book is actually a sequel to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and has nothing to do with Journey to the Center of Earth other than all of the stories are written by Jules Verne.

I love Co-Host's "I have to give it Some Ol Bullshit." It's the "I have to" that's so fucking hilarious. I can't explain it.
