    Guys, this was written by a woman...the book was born from her fear of motherhood.  Her name just happens to sound like a guy

    I will always cherish this film as the first I ever reviewed. Tilda Swinton definitely deserves an Oscar nomination. Click here if you want to read it on the Excalibur page.

    I enjoyed this movie. There is little dialogue, but what is there is effective. All the camera angles and shots were great. It was nice taking the journey through Tilda Swinton's pain and anguish that she felt after this tragedy. It is uncomfortable to watch and outs you in a down mood afterwards, but that means its done its job!! Kevin is haunting and manipulative. I will say though that Tilda should have disciplined him more in the movie! She let him get away with a lot and just run the show. Maybe that's why what happened, happened. Although this is for sure not for everyone, low full price!

    I wasn't in love with it. Maybe it was a tad bit too art house for me... the cinematography, choice of shots, editing were at times absolutely brilliant.. and other times distracting to the overall narrative. Yet the narrative was so disjointed.. the whole form of it got in the way of creating a 100% effective story. It slightly missed its mark in my opinion, but thats not to say there werent some great/chilling performances. And I have to disagree slightly with Leon/Cyrus.. imo the movie did sort of 'peter' out in the end... The tension is building and building for such a tiny morsel of redemption. Is the journey worth it in the end? I'm only posing questions. Not badmouthing the movie as a whole. And i totally felt a Lars Von Trier vibe.. except i could tolerate this movie.. and while watching Antichrist i was overhwhelmed with the arrogance art BS. Ugh. F*** that movie.

    Although a mixed bag for me.. imo it's worth a viewing to any serious film lover. To me, more effective 'real life' type horrors would have to be Red White & Blue, Red (jack ketchum's adaptation), Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer..

    But f*** it The Thing trumps em all ;) right cohost?

    @Silent Protagonist

    You're right in that no child is born evil and that whatever seriously dangerous personality traits they have come from outside influences, but there is a point where you can't solely blame the parents, depending on what the situation was in the kid's life. I haven't seen the movie, but I know plenty of fucked up people, some who had horrible childhoods and others that were just spoiled and callous. I can tell you that the parents absolutely are to blame for the actions of some of them (to a degree), whether they didn't know how to be parents or just didn't care for their children, but in other situations the parents are almost incapable of controlling what outside influences seep in and corrupt their kid. It also doesn't help that some kids just don't speak of anything that may be going on, no matter how hard an individual parent or both parents try to step in and "correct" what they think is wrong. Some parents in these situations I feel for, and others I absolutely despise, it all just depends on how much they did or didn't do, whether out of spite, love, or their own fucked up personality.

    I'd have to disagree will a lot of the "good movie" and "great movie" comments but I thought this movie was pretty F@#$ing boring. I thought the story itself was a great story but the movie didn't seem to be paced correctly. I would have much rather had the feeling I had watching "Rampage" for the first time. I think it missed the mark but that's just my opinion.

    I never would have guessed that the heaviest and most serious film of the year would produce probably your funniest review of the year. Great work guys.

    @Chris Morales What I mean was that no child is born evil and a kid has his personality based around his parents or outside influences wich his parents are responsible for the kid being exposed to, there for any bad behaviour is to blame on them.

    And yes I did listen to it, was just too tired to care about spelling or grammar.

     i lot of people say kevin is evil but I don't think that's the main point in the movie, is

    more about nature vs nurture, kevin knows her mother never really love him, she

    only half-try to do what she is expected to do ( kevin knows and her mother know is the true)

    of course that doesn't justify hurting anybody....but interesting movie anyway.

    I do want to see this...been hearing about it for a while but around here they only play the "teen" kind of movies. And only the Oscar nominated pictures that are talked about non-stop...it takes that much to play a good movie. Luckily Chronicle was a wide-release or I never would have seen it.

    How long does it take for a decent independent movie to come out here? Well A Dangerous Method was released in November...they JUST started playing some showtimes of it last week (and already out of theaters this week lol).

    I hated this movie. Boring, dull and not suspenseful in the slightest. Tilda Swinton was overrated and so is the director. The hype for this movie was so overblown. I'm glad Rooney Mara got the Oscar slot over Swinton.
