I'll admit that I'm not much of a horror movie type person. All horror movies that I watch has to have a interesting concept. The First horror movie that I saw was the origional Freddy Kruger Movies. I enjoyed the origional and it's second sequal but other than that the rest of the series was average. But I liked them enough that I looked forward to seeing this movie. I really liked this movie. Jackie Earlie Haley was a very good psyco and I looked forward to him from seeing the human target and I enjoyed myself when I rented it. I did miss the comedic Freddy but for the time this movie was written it felt almost right. Yes, some of the acting was dull and the absense of music helped that but it was really fun. The makers also did a good job in putting a human aspect to Freddy Kruger again it goes well with the time. All in all this movie fell short of Better Than Sex because of the dull acting and score. So I give this a Full Price.

I thought this movie was dull. I agree with a lot people that this should have been more. Jackie Earl Haley was fine as Freddy, but he was not Robert Englund. Also did not like Freddy's make-up and I missed the original score.

Just rented and saw this movie. I agree with Cyrus that it was some what enjoyable. The only problem was that it never lightened up not even in the slightest it was gloomy from the get-go. The Nightmares & Dreamscapes were not very creative. In the original movie Freddy was always reminding them that they were in a dream, like stretching out his arm or pulling off his scalp to reveal his Brain tissues or (my favorite) a huge Freddy Snake swallowing you up. Here its just slash-disappear-slash again & again. It was an interesting & different point of view of the origin but, like Co-host said they just had all the means to do something wildly different but they were sacred to do it and it showed. I give it a Rental and I would not buy the DVD. Another note I wish they would stop doing remakes that uses the same material that the original used. Like the "Girl in the body-bag" and the body bouncing all over the room. (though the original did just had her sliding all over the ceiling.

Having just seen the Remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, I was- though mollified-- still disappointed. I liked the background story, although the characterization of the parents was so incredibly superficial. I honestly liked the original special effects (and soundtrack) better, because they do more with what they had, and appear more realistic, then the CGI does. All other comparisons aside, the concept that makes the first one so great is the dynamic between children and parents. It's not about the monster or even about dreams...It's about parents not believing their children. It's about what happens when parents and children are faced with radically different truths-- realities that severely test the boundaries of rational thought. That was the essential under-current of the first movie in every parent scene. It's glaringly absent from the remake :/

I actually liked this remake. Yes it could've been a lot better, but I can see that the people that made this movie wanted to reboot the series in an entirely new direction. Things I liked about this movie: The visuals of the nightmare sequences are fantastic, I say well done to the cinematographers and editors that helped made this movie. Jackie Earl Haley makes a phenomenal Freddy Kruger and makes the iconic character more scarier than comedic. The one Actress that shined in this movie to me was Katie Cassidy, she was the only one that really delivered her character, the other actors not so much. Another thing I like is how they really explained the Origin of Freddy Kruger. The things I didnt like about this movie are the actors (besides Jackie Earl Haley and Katie Cassidy), and the fact that this was not really all that scary, it was like one of the cheap jump scare type of movies. Overall this is a low matinee for me only because of the visuals of the nightmares and Jackie Earl Haley was really committed to his role as freddy. If I were most people, I would rent it over the halloween weekend.

I can't believe the rating for this. This is Some Ole Bullsh!t. The only thing this has going for it is nice visuals here and there and Jackie Earl Haley's voice. Otherwise, it takes 40 minutes before we get to any real story as to what's going on and why we should even care about the characters. Freddy makes what I amount to 5 second (or less) cameos throughout the film and comes off as somewhat of a costar. We follow several would be leads to the film before we finally settle on the characters who would actually drive what little narrative there is to tell. I could go on about just how much this film lacks but overall it was just a mess.

This wasn't that bad but I agree with Co-Host that it could've been alot better, however for that reason I definately don't think it's worth Some Ole Bullshit, more like a solid Matinee, they definately fucked up the make up around his eyes but his voice were better than in the Original by my opinion, although the Original is without doubt a better movie and you hardcore fanboys out there, stop crying like little new born babies and learn to deal with things... the movie weren't as spectacular as the first one, so what? It's not the end of the world.

i really liked this film, for me the only thing that wasnt up to scratch was jackie earle haley. robert england was the one and only freddy, it was much better in parts and kept to the original film but i did expect better, i would still say any one who watched the original go see this one just for old time sake,

MATINEE~~~This, in my opinion, was pretty good. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was still entertaining. Jackie Earle Haley made a pretty cool Freddy, and Kyle Gallener did pretty good, but everyone else sucked, especially the girl who played the lead. Did this top the original? NO. But at least they tried something different...

This movie is some old bullshit nothing new was brought to the table I might as well watch the original. The acting was just ok. it wasn't as scary as the first one because I think they tried a little to hard trying to make you jump. The only thing thing that this movie has that was better then the original was the special effects and even some of the FX weren't up to par.

I have to say I really liked the movie. I know lots of people didn't like it but I did! It wasn't the best movie but it was a good movie. I have always been a fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and really, this one was pretty good. Great, next thing you know I'm gonna have a ton of people freaking out and wondering why the hell I liked this movie. You know why I liked this movie? Cause I have liked nightmare on Elm Street No matter what. Hell, I even liked the entire original series all the way up to New Nightmare and Freddy vs. Jason

My date and I went to see Nightmare on Elm. All I have to say is wow. Wow, they could have done so much with this film and and they made it fucking boring. Seriously, some point in the movie a fly started buzzing around in front of me. I paid more attention to that fly than the actual movie. I got so bored watching that I switched my attention to the dust flying around the projector. SERIOUSLY! This is 2010! They could have taken this iconic franchise and made it into a masterpiece. Some parts it seemed to boldly play the child molestation but only to pussy out with the pictures. Call me sick but I thought it would make the movie creepier if there was an actual topless picture of the dark-haired girl when she was a kid. Don't get me started about Rooney Mara. She is beyond a doubt the worst actress ever. Really girl? Edward-Scissorhands creepy uncle comes at you at supermarket, cuts you, and your reaction to all that is blase? Just die. I would have crapped my pants and cried out all the water in my body. And another thing blah blah blah blah blahhh. Wtv. Loved Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach. Didn't convince me as Freddy Krueger.

I really, really dislike movies like this. It relys so heavily on jump scares that it actually detracts from the horror element. A good horror movie builds up to a scare. This movie has Freddy hitting audiences over the head with them. And what the fuck'd they do to freddy's face? He looks like some kinda anthropomorphic zombie cat man. Waste of $7.50. Fuck this movie.

This is a terrible movie in that it is nothing but a remake of the original 1984 movie. You can not beat Robert Englund who oringanlly played Freddy. This guy looked like a bald lion with a skin condition. The movie is lame in that how do a group of kids not know they know each other or that they were supposed to have been abused by this guy. The movie is lame, the acting is lame and Freddy is lame. Hope the people who invested in this movie are either 'happy' with it or have plenty more money were that came from.
