I'd give this movie a matinee. Interesting idea, and a fairly realistic take, but to me the acting was weak at times and the story lost my interest at a few points. Is it worth seeing? Yes. Is it worth paying full price? Not really.

This is a full on Better Than Sex movie. The first one I've rated that high since Warrior. This movie had it all. Great characters, great visual, originality, ingenuity, laughs, action, story. Easily the best of the "found footage" movies, and a great superhero origin story. The bar for 2012 has just been set very, very high

I thought this film was rather good. I agree with NeverSerious on the Akira comment. I feel that the nods to Otomo's 1988 animated masterpiece are all over this film. The relationships between Andrew and Matt are extremely simular to Tetsuo and Kaneda. Their personalities even develop in a similar way. As I watched the scenes of Andrew pushing aside cars with his mind, wearing hospital attire as shards of glass orbit him, I couldn't help but think, this could be a live action Akira. I admire the way Chronical has taken some of Akira's themes and run with them. It has given enough of its own spin on things that it comes across as fresh and original. This is what filmmakers should be doing. Not just remaking old ideas, but building upon them. Oh and the blog chick might has well have been named 'Camera Angle No.2'.

I hate this movie i gave it a fuck you becuse they chroma keyed way to much and it was something that you see alot and i didn't really care for it becuse of seeing the same effects being used from horror movies or chroma keying way to much. But if this was a book yes it would have been better but still there would have been a movie of it sooner or later if there was a book

This movie is so awesome!!! I have no complaints. The pacing was perfect, and the characters were interesting and believable. I find it weird that so many people disliked the movie just because they didn't like the main character. I didn't like Andrew at all, but since when does the main character of a movie need to be likable? I've never heard anyone say "I love Catcher in the Rye because Holden Caulfied is just so damn likable!" You don't need likable characters, you need interesting characters. Andrew was definitely interesting.

I miss the days when there would be 2-3 reviews a month.

yeah.... man, you guys love this movie. i thought it was ok... Cyrus hit the nail on the head; it all comes down to whether or not you sympothize with this Andrew character and how much he bitches and spazzes out..... i hated him. i was glad no one was sitting next to me in the movie theater... because i caught mumbling outloud how much i wish someone would kill the little shit already.... i mean, its worth seeing the effects... if you have a decent t.v., rent it.

I saw this after listening to your review and wow was I let down.  Better than Sex?  Really?  The film was good, but it wasn't great.  I didn't really like Andrew at all.  I get that he has a fucked up life but his friends did nothing to piss him off to that extent.  It just felt rushed and made me want to see him die.  He just kept whining and whining for the last 20 minutes and it dragged.  I'd say this is a high rental low matinee.

I saw this at the midnight showing, and enjoyed the hell out of it. I thought it was the best live action version of Akira that we're ever going to get. Also, didn't know blue kryptonite effected humans.

Saw it tonight, really enjoyed it, a great film told from the sympathetic "villians" point of view.  It has been a weekend of films done by the offpring of 80's greats.  Last night I saw Young Adult, which was good but not great, and tonight Chronicle which was great.  I might make it a trifecta and watch Lost in Translation lol
