Just watched C&A and have to agree, it was far too moody. although i still enjoyed it and the pace was pretty good there could have been a bit more light heartedness woven into it. I mean, Harrison Ford may not be knowen for his "comedies2 but he is pretty good at adding some fun into some of his movies (namely Indiana Jones) and Daniel Craig can make you smile as well, the director should have capitalised on this. However all in all it was a pretty good movie bringing a new twist to a sci/western genre but at the same time a wasted opportunity to make it better than it was.

I really wanted to like this movie. James Bond and Indiana Jones beating up aliens with nothing but their six shooters.  I was totally game.  Unfortunately, it felt like one of those jump in the middle of the story movies.  Their were a lot of loose ends that needed to be tied up.  Paul Dano, gives the best performance in the movie, yet is only seen for 15 minutes tops.  Still, there was tons of rootin tootin cowboy action, and for that I give it a Low Matine'.

I haven't seen the movie, but by just reading your reviews I'm kind of glad I didn't watch it. When I saw the trailer, I was like, "Cowboys and Aliens is not really a good mixture." But my sister seemed to like it a lot.

OMG - Being a huge Man with No Name western fan and loving Alien Invasion stories.

This was the best mixture that played toward the strengths of both types of stories.

The aliens are arrogant and don't expect to get any real resistance and the Humans know how to attack them by taking out their air support like in Battle L.A. and then draw them into a killing field.

It was awesome seeing the Indian Warrior bashing the aliens head in with the bone mace.

Always remember when in doubt aim for the head or face if they are wearing a helmet.

It might have worked well for this movie to have aliens that pop up sporadically, kind of like Attack The Block.  When you have a big invasion force that shows up at the beginning in huge ships, it really makes the cowboys seem hopelessly outclassed. This makes lone hope Daniel Craig (showing up with his Space Ghost Power Band) a bit of a deus ex machina.  No pun intended.

For once, I completely agree with Korey about the film.

Format changes are looking great by the way. Trying new things and I'm digging it.

if you have the opportunity you should watch a series on cable called "ancient aliens", they talk about this. it is possible that cowboys did have interaction with aliens. in past episodes they talk about alien interaction in biblical times etc. so why wouldn't it be possible for cowboys to have had interaction with aliens? think about it...it's possible..keep an open mind.

Overall, I want to thank Hollywood (This is unlikely of me) for taking a chance and making a new plot for the audience to enjoy. Also having a talented team behind this film. Sure there were some flaws and I did have a couple of unanswered questions but it doesn't take away from enjoying the film. There was enough character development and you end up rooting for them. I feel the aliens special effects couldv'e have been a little better, and had more build up for when you finally see one, but when they are introduced its intense. I think Olivia Wilde's character didn't add anything special to the movie, they couldv'e gone deeper into her purpose. But overall a good film!!

"Cowboys & Aliens" might not be the rousing sci-fi action movie some might expect, but there's more than enough fun summer entertainment to make it worthwhile, especially if you're a fan of Westerns. I'm giving this one a MATINEE rating, and that's the bottom line cause the Wolfman said so!!!

It's good that the aliens were not shown too soon, it kept up the mystery.

I think the hype killed this movie which was pretty good to me. They should have kept it kinda hush and then BAM! surprise everybody.

Great review. I just got through watching this today and I have to agree 100% the pacing was off. the third act was pretty good.  As always love the animation and I always look forward to it.  Keep it up Guys.

This is one I'd like to see because of the actors in it. I have the feeling I'm going to get the "He-Man Complex" where I thought this would've been one that should've been  done in space.
