Watched it again, and still very much enjoy it.  I agree with Corey that it would have been nice to see the world at large a bit more flesh out, just to get an international feel for how the rest of the world 'lives' . . . local flavor for a few scenes.  But it was still a fun, sometimes scary science fiction drama.  I felt for the characters, whether hate or sympathy, I cared what happened next.  Too bad there isn't a sequel, it would be nice to see humanity turn the tide and how that would look, but the movie sets up the pieces that the imagination could fill in.  Full price.

This was a really good movie. I was kept interested and sometimes on edge throughout the movie. The only issue with the movie is the ending. I mean...it was SOOOOOO unsatisfying. They could have went a totally different route, maybe point towards their future plans, but no, it was a generalized ending which left me going, "Why didn't they just do this instead of that!?" But overall, the movie was total win. Finally, scary-ass vampires! HEELLLIES YEAH!

this is definitely a full price!

this concept was new and the actors were good. i like the michael dorman guy, the one who plays frankie.

the story gave u something new like how to cure vampirism and it answers the question if vampires are so freaking bad and strong why can't they invade the world.

and i like the concept about becoming a vampire like a disease, an outbreak.

enjoyed the movie and i was really emotionally invested. i was never bored. i wanted to know what happens next.

The concept/idea was good, but the movie failed to deliver any emotional attachment to the characters. There was too much of useless dialogues and the climax had too many flaws that just leaves you unsatisfied. Definitely not a full price.

Low Full Price. The actual vampire scenes were great and the amount of blood is low really works for this movie. How the vampires live and get around in daylight also works. What doesn't work is the cure. It just doesn't make much sense and they don't really explain it in the film. The main characters actions toward humans was kind of weird how he is nice to them and helps them. It felt just wrong in a vampire movie.

Really, I was having high hopes for this movie. Finally I saw it, and although I liked the premise (not entirely original) unfortunately, for me...as the movie dragged along, it keep getting worse and worse. It's a terrible movie in the end. The vampires should be those mythical powerful creatures, and here, they are almost inferior to the humans. I guess the reason they ran out of humans to feed is because mainly everybody wanted to become a vampire. The acting was above average, by the main cast mostly : Hawke, Dafoe and Sam Neill - the latter reminds me of the Illusive Man from Mass Effect 2 somehow. In my opinion, there are other vampire movies that are better - Perfect Creature and Let The Right One In.

I really liked it but I thought that it had some problem with finding the right tone, also ending could've been better, just felt kinda rushed. However it's a must see and owns the living shit out of Gaylight! Low but enthusiastic Full Price from me!

Definitely FULL PRICE. An intelligent , well fleshed out mash-up of sci-fi and vampires. The Brothers Spierg are now 2 for 2 ! Its never boring and the film design is very detailed and while it is a smaller budgeted film it all up there on the screen. And the best part? no damn glitter-suckers! These guys are hungry and you know it. If you remove the vampire aspects it could have been about any displaced group or creature. As usual our 3 main leads get and keep you involved. Now for the gore lovers: Its in there! ENJOY!

I say, story is well written, Willem Dafoe has awesome lines and makes basically most interesting character, gore is "DAAAMN". Very high matinee.

Hey the review was great.Funny! Personally I thought the movie was worth about 3/4 price. I guess I liked it until close to the end when it went a bit overboard with some scenes.

I absolutely LOVED this movie. It's a fresh take on the vampire genre, and it also avoids being cheesy (though it sometimes comes close). It's bloody, the vampires aren't superhuman sex symbols, good actors, good camera work...just go see it.

Urgh. I was excited to see this, mostly since my boyfriend and I were ready to see a non glittery vampire movie, but this didn't really deliver for either of us. There was nothing scary about this movie except for the handful of times they used cheap tricks like having creatures or bats jumping out. The gore was a borederline cheesy for me as well. Honestly I feel like this movie had a lot of potential and visually its great, the filming was well done. I just felt that it was a few one liners short of cheesy. Almost....but not quite.

Here's another reason I wasn't quite as fond of this movie as I should've been: The reason vampires are scary and we like to see them in conflict with humans is because humans are inherently weak and rely on tools/weapons to survive, against stronger animals and nature. A vampire represents a human with animal powers; a superior threat, which makes it that much more difficult to defeat. In this movie, the differences between human and vamp were extremely underscored- more like they were just different factions of humanity, nazi's..communists...whatev. I would've liked to see the monster vamps become more of a threat to the other vampires, instead of being portrayed as minor pests. Also, what scientific explanation was there for the vampires being invisible? The rules for these vampires weren't very clearly defined... it just wasn't as exciting as it could've been. For similar themes with different executions: see Blade 2 or 28 Weeks Later.
