  This is it. THIS is the movie I've been waiting for. An intense action sci-fi drama that has originality in the post-First Star Wars Trilogy age. This is the BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN.

  PROS: Unbelievable acting that makes Heath Ledger in 'The Dark Knight' look like an absolute pussy. Compelling and memorable characters. PERFECT action sequences that will have you on the edge of your seat. Impeccable CG on the aliens (for Christ's sake, I forgot they were aliens after a while!). The greatest storyline to EVER come out of Hollywood that really shows the problems of today's civilization, but in a very violent, bloody, and just plain grotesque way (IT'S AWESOME). Above all, for a film that had a budget of ONLY $30,000,000, this film is absolutely incredible.

  CONS: I would have liked to see the Halo movie that was supposed to come out directed by Neil Blomkamp, but if it had happened, this never would have been made.

  FINAL SCORE: A perfect sci-fi action flick that carries an amazing message tied together by stellar performances, CG, and storytelling. This is not just a great movie, this is an achievement in humanity. BETTER THAN SEX!!!

  I do appreciate you guys. I really do. But... you are a bit lighthearted. I mean this because you never go indepth about movies, and just look at them as common movie viewers.   The 1st time I watched it I gave it "SOME OLE BULLS**T! But after watching it a 2nd time I give it "Full Price" becasue I understood the story & characters a lot more.

  great- great movie. Some moments were difficult to watch but as a whole it leaves a deep impression -removes some blocks in your mind if you allow it.

  This movie is great. People that don't like it, simply don't understand it. The ones that don't understand it, are morons. Or idiots, if morons is too complex a word for them. For the ones that don't get the bigotry, try to leave your country. Learn the ways of the world, you will see how evil it is.   I disagree 100% and I know I'll piss some people off, but no way was this a Better Than Sex film. Sorry, maybe it's because I'm a girl and just not that much into this kind of sci-fi, but this movie was borderline Some Ole' Bullsh*t for me. I think the make-up was amazing b/c I understand they did a lot of the makeup of him changing and didn't CG it, so I give it a lot of respect there...but the rest of it... -_- I just didn't get it. I watched it at home and was two seconds from getting up and doing something else like five times...I just didn't get it. It seemed stupid to me. I guess I felt bad when they humans were trying to boot the bugs out and roughing up and everything, but I just didn't get the movie. I'd give it a low Rental, if that.

  guys, im a big fan, n its probably the first time i disagree with you guys, i believe it is a really good idea, to bring a nes aspect to alien movies, i believe they really worked on this movie to make it believable n interesting, but... what?????????????? better than sex?? i was like.. have they even had sex?? really?? the only movie id tell my gf not now would be the dark knight or maybe the hangover which made me laugh my ass off, i believe this is more of a high matinee, rlly close to a full price, but, no way in hell id give this a better than sex, sorry guys.

  I find it impossible not to like this movie, if you dont love it its a matter of understanding. Its not just aliens and blood. Its really an incredible story. i have it on my ps3 and watch it just about every other day. its so perfect, it holds nothing back and doesn't shove morals in your face like avatar did. i cant find anything wrong with this movie, perfection in every possible sense.

  So it's been almost a year and we've yet to see another sci-fi film as great as District 9...this summer is nowhere near as great as last summer. District 9 seems to have its audience polarized...some people absolutely love it and others hate its guts. I'm totally with you guys though, it's definitely one of those rare and precious Better Than Sex movies!

  Better Than Sex. This movie doesn't have a damn thing wrong with it. The story is told in a fantastic way. The aliens look amazing and act great. When it comes down to the last minute of the film, I was sitting with the remote about to hit menu and re-watch it. I love alien movies and this one did not disapoint. I watched this movie thinking that this was real. There were a lot of good interview scenes and news scenes that I started to believe that this was happening.

  I would give this movie a Fuck you...This movie is just full of plot holes..unexplained animosity and bigotry..annoying and unlikeable characters..and tries so hard to bash your skull in with.."look how much we hate these things...just because they're different". From this review it sounds like you slept through 90% of this movie. The beginning starts with the mother ship unable to fly so it finds refuge on earth where it can sit and do nothing, they didn't explain why the aliens weren't trying to fix it or why they didn't do anything to get out of there. Then a few years later we decide to cut into it(because we knew we could cut through it, because it was obviously made out of metal,and we knew that some how. While the aliens didn't have anything to get out of the ship with) We find all the aliens and then decide okay we'll let them try to live in the cities and assimilate. Then the movie goes through interviews of why people hate these things because they're eating their garbage or other juvenile crap like that..and the unexplained animosity begins. The aliens just want to leave but the organization that is keeping them here won't let them do anything..so they send them to the slums...where they are secretly being taken away to be experimented on and while this goes on you're supposed to feel sorry for the british guy(who is the most unlikeable character i have ever seen in a movie).   Great movie. It reminds me of the time another smaller film smashed a blockbuster: it was the Matrix versus Star Wars (the one with Jah Jah Binks). And this one provides food for thought.
