love love LOVED this movie. Love the cast, love the jokes (that one with the old guy t*tty-f**king grandma but then it turns out to be his balls... XDDD), love the whole story, but I did catch myself checking the time somewhere near the end. Somewhere it lost its drive and kind of drug itself to the ending, which picked up again, but the drag near it was so long you still felt exhausted when it was done.

Im sorry to say that this movie was a dud, It had some semi-funny scenes but nothing memorable. the story line was weak and cheesy. They pulled out all the gross jokes about masturbation and fart jokes which was just insulting to the audience's intelligence. This movie is more like a low rental, though it is worth seeing, it is nothing special and defiantly not worth paying to go see or now buy in stores.

It got a few chuckles from me. But what caught my eye is Jonah Hill was wearing an Alamo Drafthouse shirt with Sonny Chiba on it from Street Fighter.

Wow, some people need to work on their English skills here..."Where" instead of "were", "then" instead of "than", "ladys" instead of "ladies", and, I'm assuming, "defiantly" instead of "definitely"... Argh! Headache Central, ovah heah!

I think the problem with this movie it that none of the characters where likeable and none of the jokes in this movie were funny.Though adam Sandler gave a great preformance, I agree with you guys this movie was way too long. More of a high rental then a full price movie.

I loved Apatow's Pass two movies. but this one was just not as good. it's defiantly a movie that's better off renting on netflixs due to it's minimal laughs and lengthy third act. the Acting was good [as always in a Apatow movie] but at the end of it all, it was just a mediocre film for me. MID-LEVEL RENTAL

Sandler's best role? What? Have you ever seen Punch-Drunk Love hahahha? And Full Price? The humour in this movie is no much better then the ones in others of Sandler's typical movies. A super serious movie with bad humour is what this movie is.You guys complain about fart jokes all the time, but not once in here. But i guess you guys just like it because of the name of the director...

Hey, Moon Patrol: Get off your high horse. You went into an R comedy and got offended by use of "THE F-WORD"? What did you expect? Grow up, chump.

  • August 09, 2009 at 3:08 AM, Moon Patrol said ...

Good writing doesn't use the F-word in every sentence. It just isn't so.

No way this is a full price movie! I walked out after 30 minutes. I just wasn't enjoying myself and quite frankly was offended by the assumed realities presented. They use the F-work every 5 seconds and after a while I want to hear words that have meaning. It is vulgar and too much male sexual mythology that I don't find real at all. There wasn't anything funny, just kind of a bunch of self-centered mean people telling everyone else to,...you know the F word. I kind of gained respect for A. Sandler after 50 first dates, but now find him back in my trash can of actors. I didn't see the whole movie but was dissappointed that spill fooled me into going in the first place.

Rental: The movie was good up until the characters went to Leslie Mann's House. From there it dragged out for a least 30 minutes, and finished with a less than amazing ending. Not something you need to see in the movie theater. This is not Adam Sandler or Seth Rogan's best work by far.

I know I'm late on this comment, but this cat just called himself the Jesus of Wingmen. Then showed himself in the Last Supper scene surrounded by Mississippi mudfish. That just made my birthday.

As Carlyle would say, "The first two acts of this movie were great, but the third act ..." was shite! The movie starts out with a gritty, realistic feel to it that immediately brought up memories of Punchline. In fact, this movie easily could have been Punchline II had the director been so inclined (and there weren't a bucket-load of legal issues). Anyway, it's a great tale of what happens when you've reached your peak, you notice the light starting to fade, and you look back of your life's accomplishments to do a sum-and-total of who you actually are. Sometimes the answer is not very pleasing. And the movie should have ended there. But, alas, it did not. The second movie (b.k.a. the third act of Funny People) is an Apatow comedy, but a horrible one. Once Sandler's character is cured and there's a chance to add more to the story of his life ... what we actually get is about an hour of him trying to selfishly and stupidly break-up a marriage. The jokes were off (or maybe just old by this time, really the movie pushes the limit on dick/fuck jokes), the editing fails, the script crumbles, the movie falls to pieces. Eric Bana's character is a full fledged joke and an insult to the wonderfully fleshed out characters at the beginning of the movie. The promise of Leslie Mann's character is never realized as she goes from a satellite character with hints of deep feeling and concern to a farcical prop used to move the story along with wild emotion and instability. In the end, the great work at the beginning of the movie was hugely overshadowed (but not overcome) by the craptastic ending of the film. I would have given the film a Low Matinee/High Rental would that I had my own website where people gave a rat's ass what I thought.

Ya I completely agree...I really liked this movie, I laughed at all the jokes and the casting was perfect...But the ending was just too long!!! But ya, I would say it is the best movie of the summer, even better then Harry Potter, and I'm a die hard (lol!) Harry Potter fan.
