I gotta check out The Expendables soon to see if Terry Cruze is just as crazy as he was in this! I'm with you there, Co-Host, I think Gerard Butler can act, too. Hope he wins an Oscar soon.

High matinee. The movie is good as an action flik, but there are scenes were it just drops. For example, when you see the kid that controls the main character for the first time, he is just the biggest asshole you ever met, but througout the movie, he becomes a better person. Also, the colors in this movie made me feel like this was a kids film and other scenes like when the girl shows her boobs for the kid made me feel like this was a comedy.

It's true that in the movie, the "revolution" is horribly underpowered and in over their heads. The point is that the corporation itself is so major...But for those who have seen the movie, wasn't that scene with Ludacris and the gamer kid seamless? Like... in the future, skinny white kids CAN talk to big black people without sounding retardedly awkward. I have yet to see that in any other movie. That was not mentioned here though.

Some good action scenes here and there but overall a horrible, extra-boring movie.

LMAO...Man, the resistance MUST'VE BEEN DESPERATE if they had to get LUDACRIS to be their leader!! LMAO...Ludacris as the resistance leader LMAO The Resistance is SCREWED LMAO THAT'S A FREAKIN JOKE,LMAO.

Another case where the spill.com review warned me away from this movie, but once I actually watched it, was pleasantly surprised. I think this review suffers from critical aestheticism. I know you guys watch a lot of movies... so you may be more jaded than the average consumer, but I think if you take a step back, and let yourself feel whats' happening in this movie- it's very real and more than a bit creepy. Props to the list of related movies below, as this film does contain elements from each of them, and others. Tron, Doom, the Matrix... What's going on in the future? What if they had LARPers actually being controlled by WoW subscribers. It's not a pretty picture in FPS's in this case. At times the movie is completely surreal with what's happening on screen and the soundtrack. It makes it feel like a game... And the jarring camera shots add to that "cant see around the edges of your screen" syndrom in games. By the end of the movie, it really does feel like you're there, and as a "genre" movie it works great.

I came into the film with high expectations and was not disappointed. Very strange and fun. I absolutely love how far they took it.

I think this this movie wasnt THAT bad xD high rental for me too, gerald butler rocks xD if he wasnt in I would forgot this movie, anyway best as popcorn entertainment and low expectations :D anyway kept this way better than death racer...

The plot is extreamly similar to Death Race, at least at the first half, but yeah I didn't really give a shit, I just wanted to see shit blow up, and I got what I wanted... People said that there was going to be alot of unnecessary nudity crap, but I had prepared myself so I didn't bother too much of that either. This is about as much Crank mixed with Death Race as you can get, it's stupid, but if you enjoyed those movies, this is the hardcore, man. Myself I give this a Matinee, was neat!

The action was great, but I didn't like all that flashing while the action was going on. That was pretty disturbing and unnecessary. The other half with the "society" was total crap imho and could better have been replaced with another storyline. That just downgraded the whole movie for me. So I agree with rental.

Basically this movie is summed into one scene: "He's fucking teabagging that guy!" Best scene in any movie all summer.

Ok so this is an interesting concept that might just get me to rent it on DVD, but I cant imagine this will have enough depth to warrant going to see it in the movies. Great idea and concept though. Ashley :) Movie Trivia
