It was all right.  More Christina Applegate and less Charlie Day would've made it better.

Going the Distance falls halfway between an uncommitted romance and a limp slapstick comedy. Drew is sultry and beauty as always, but like regurgitated food - this character was better the first few times.

A long distance relationship is a full heart that is lonely.

    And somehow, that was missed.

The couple falls in love while Drew is working the tail end of a summer internship in NYC. Jason Long just 'clicks' with Drew and they spend the next six lustful weeks together. Both agree that long-distance is not possible.

As Drew is boarding to leave, Jason professes to her that perhaps, just maybe, long distance could work for them. After all, they have something deeper, something special, something...that can go the distance?

The script, unfortunately does not develop much beyond this. The director, Nanette Burstein, seems to have taken the stance that "romance is awkward", and not the cute awkward, but the the mouth-breather panting down my neck kind of awkward.

Romance needs connection. And not the cold, clammy awkwardness of a one-sided phone sex conversation.

mm Watched this film with my girlfriend. She forced me to watch it... -_-;;... this film was pretty much one of those love story that is basically showing a couple who fell in love but live in different city in America. Filled with comedies that wasn't good enough for me to laugh but some were funny. The story of this film wasn't that satisfying. But it was good enough to tell a good love relationship between a couple. I'm guessing not many people are really into this sort of love story film but this film has it's moment. But some dialogues were horrible, some scenes were just weird and shall i say kind of Awkward??? But it is worth a watch but not one of my favorite love story film.

So looking forward to seeing this movie, glad to hear the Matinee rating, cuz I was hoping it was a solid movie. Not just for Drew, but my sweetie K and I dated long distance for 2 years, flying Southwest Air between MA and DC, so I think we'll especially enjoy seeing the film. Great review guys! And remember to close the bathroom door, always. ;-)

Aaah, Drew. My favorite actress of all time. She's got this certain appeal to me that I can't honestly put into words, and her characters can be either comical, serious, and shady. I loved this movie, because of her obviously. Have any of you seen her in Whip It? Her character was so stupidly loveable. <3

by giving this movie anything above bullshit you're encouraging people to pay to see it, and thus encouraging executives to pay for more and more of these stupid, pointless movies tat are really about nothing to be made over and over again. i dunno about you but i'd rather see funding go to a film maker with a bit more ambition and originality

Good for a Sex and the City episode. At the Alamo with the bf, and gave him a note after the first hour: "And we are done." He is back on probation with his movie-choice privileges.
