why do HP fan-Ta's get so upset when people stop bumming this series. Co-Host watched this film and didn't like it, good for him. Also his opinion is very important because shows the opinions of those who watch this film while not being fan of book which is important for reviewers to show, so that class know how to take it.

My personal opinion. I personally hate the Harry Potter books, so the films have never had to work hard to make me give them points as I see them as average films based on average books. This meant that I always felt these films actually generally did good job when look at material sourcing from and their failing are things which are transferred over from books, but don't become really noticeable until portrayed in a visionary fashion.

That being said, I actually enjoyed this film despite not liking Harry Potter, I thought acting was ok, the plot was paced enough that could work out what was going on and they showed the isolation of characters well. It had many failings, but again they are hangovers from problems with other books and films and honestly did not stop me enjoying this quite well directed film. So I give it high Mat if not fan of series.

I felt that the wonder, imagination & magic from the early instalments was completely lost, and I didn't care about the characters because I had already fallen asleep by the time they started fighting. Co-host FTW. And yes, I have read the books like five times each.

At this point the movies assume that you've read the source material. Anybody who hasn't will most likely be confused at some point - especially at the character motivations and "romantic relationships". Everything happens so fast in the movies.

It's a movie for the fans. Don't hate on cohost because he doesnt read lol.

As much as I like Percy Jackson, it looks like a peice of shit compared to this. I dont want to say fuck you co host, but what can I say? You are so wrong! You should've gave this a low Matinee or somthing. Anyway, his movie was awsome! And the two best parts in this film really spice it up. Those two best parts are 1) The Battle of Little Whinging(Electrified voldemort was badass!) and 2) Seeing naked Hermione on the big screen! Although there were no "special parts" and I was like, "Naked Harry get out of the way! Your blocking the good stuff!" Why didn't Spill mentioned that part? They talk about naked woman all the time and they said nothing about this? They should've said a hint about it, but NO! Oh yeah, the rating, FULL PRICE!!

full price!! its the first harry potter ive seen that actually took my visions from the book and stamped it on the screen. i stil hate daniel radcliffe acting but the dude who plays ron weasley did some amazing acting. It looked like to me with the snake jumping out of the screen and other moments that this would have been a fantastic 3d movie if they had've did it

This movie was amazing and I'm so glad to see how the series has really matured overall. Cinematography was top-notch like HP6. The actors keep improving. One of the best movies of the year. Go suck a dick co-host!

This might be the worst movie of the year, thank god for Co_Host is here to put some sence in you Potheads.. There is so many plotholes, as in how they find the gryffindor sword, the whole thing with R.A.B and the horcrux, they suddenly gonna destory the last 5 parts in the next movie? Also with the Dumbledore wand, how is it possible, if his wand is so awesome that he couldnt defend himself against Snape or the other Voldemort servents?

@ TNT: We aren't attacking Co-Hosts's opinion simply because it's negative, it's because he's seemed to ignore the movie in front of him simply to be a troll. How many times in the audio review did the other reviews tell him something he claimed came out of nowhere was introduced or explained? He comes off as a troll, hence he gets dissed for it. Spill reviews don't always feature all four guys, if Co-Host had this much trouble following the movie he should have just sat this review out. He brings nothing to the table here except negativity. There's one thing in hating the movie on it's own merits, there's another in pointlessly trolling it.

I'm an insanely loyal HP fan when it comes to the books, so no movie is EVER going to meet my expectations. Having said that, this movie isn't that bad; by far, the worst movie of the series was Order of the Phoenix--that whole movie was so far off base when it came to the book, I can't even stand to watch it again. It got a huge FUCK YOU!! from me... Essentially, this movie was "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Lite". The back story that has been cut from the previous films starts to show in a big way here. There is so much that has been left out and unfortunately it's all significant to the story. If I hadn't read the books, I know I'd be lost. They don't explain why Harry, Ron and Hermione are on the run, why they can't just hold up at a titty bar somewhere. LOL! Yeah, the movie starts to drag after the first 40 minutes or so b/c they had to cut out all of the exposition explaining what the trio are doing as they hide out which moves the story along in the book. Also there's a lot of internal struggle going on with Harry and his relationship with Dumbledore in the books that can't be portrayed on film b/c we aren't inside of Harry's head; thus, you lose a good 30% of the story right there. The Hallows part is skimmed upon but never fully explained...can't wait to see how they make up for it in the final film. They did a few things right, but also wrong as well. That whole Harry/Hermione dance thing was effing awkward. IDK who had that idea but that was a 2 1/2 minute scene that should have been scrapped to make room for explaining more about what the hell was going on. I thought Rupert Grint (Ron) gave his best performance to date and he was the highlight of the movie for me. The other two did well, but he really impressed me in this movie. I agree with the pacing of the movie, particularly the ending. If they could have extended the movie by about 5 minutes, they could have had a much better sense of a cliffhanger; instead the movie has you running full-tilt for the cliff and you end up stopping 10 feet from the edge wondering what the fuck just happened. Then again, the story of the what's going on is so severely under-developed it really wouldn't matter where you stopped it...people would still be confused. I give this a mid to low FULL PRICE rating. I mean, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. I understand why Co-Host is confused thinking nothing happened b/c everything that happened in those parts of the books has been cut down so much, it leaves the purpose and direction of the film feeling really disjointed and empty. FYI, the book was 846,236,755,934 times better than this movie...

Look hands down this is one of the greatest movies this year. The main characters are forced to grow up and deal with real life adult problems without guidance. This film truly depicts the character growth Ron,Hermione, and Harry has been developed throughout the series. I'll agree with the pacing issue to a certain degree but this is absolutely a High Full Price bordering on better than sex. And yeah I'll admit I"m a major fan-boy of the potter series books and film but so what its still awesome :)

If it weren't for two things: the fact that it feels like a set-up movie and that there was some pacing issues, i'd give it better than sex. but, man, this is a HIIIIIIIIGH FULL PRICE!!!

In my opinion, each Harry Potter film shows different events happening in Hogwarts. And because this is the final chapter of Harry Potter they didn't really show Hogwarts. But instead, they showed where Harry's parents were murdered, different places etc... But i guess J K Rowling wrote the book so the director can't do anything about it. But one thing I really loved was some shots. For example, there is a long shot of Harry holding his wand and looking at the sun going down. Absolutely amazing shot. People in this film did some pretty amazing job. This is only Part 1. They showed what is happening to Harry and what he must do. It had many dialogue but it is good. because that means, in part 2, people will show more battle. IT was a GOOD film to watch, I enjoyed it. But I can tell that part 2 will be much much better :D

    BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • November 25, 2010 at 2:44 PM, said ...

Yeah, I think you have to take the long view on a movie like this. You're talking about the best selling children's book series EVER! I teach English in Korea and it is no exaggeration to say that every single kid in every middle to high school aged class I've taught in five years has read the books. I really don't think that anyone involved with this film is going to try and mess with that. They have to respect that fan base. Keep in mind that JK Rowling is enormously popular and probably had a lot of say over how these movies would be handled. Hardly surprising seeing as she's probably the only writer that ever became a multi-millionaire from writing children's books. Now, if you know the book series you know that Deathly Hallows, the final book in the series, is over 700 pages long. If they're committed to staying true to the source material which they obviously are, then I really don't see how they could hope to squeeze that into a 2 or 2.5 hour movie. And for fans (of which there are millions upon millions all over the world, think like Michael Jackson proportions here) they're not going to care. Once the final movie comes out people will get the full set and have movie marathons with the extended versions with a million extras and love every minute of it. I was very skeptical about the films when they first started coming out. I loved the books and worried that they'd taint what was a wonderful experience. Fortunately they've mostly hit the mark with these movies. The acting is solid and even excellent. Gary Oldman as Sirius Black was outstanding. The plot, the sets, the costumes, it all stays true to the books. You really couldn't ask them to do much more. If you haven't seen the other movies or, what would be far better, read the books then your criticisms really don't hold much weight. These movies are for the fans and the fans love them.
