At first this film appears "just okay," but if you read the novels you will really love and appreciate it. You would initially think of Hayden Christensen's character David Rice as pretty lame and Hayden's acting/voice irritating. But if you get the backstory of the Character from the novel, Hayden suits the role. David's alcoholic father abused his mother (Diane Lane) to the point where she took off abandoning him. David is left to take the abuse until things get really bad with his dad and he unknowingly Jumps/Teleports away. He then runs away to fend for himself.

Personally after seeing the film Mister Foe, I think Jamie Bell who played Griffin would have been a better leading role as David Rice, but eh. The film does stray from the novel a bit, in one way by making the mothers story and reason for leaving more...Hollywood. I actually like the films version of the mother because it leaves many possibilities for sequels including Davids half-sister Sophieplayed by Twilight's Kristen Stewart being a Jumper herself or even a supercool Paladin who hunts Davy.

I recommend reading Jumper which is 1 of 3 graphic novels by Steven Gould.

Full Price. This movie was awesome. It was a movie that finnaly gave me what I wanted, a super hero that acts like a real person. The only downside is that the second Jumper guy didn't seem necessary. He could have just shown up, kicked some Palidan ass, and then died or left or something and this movie wouldn't change.

I'd give this a solid Rental, it could've been longer with abit more character developement but the action scenes were pretty cool.

I have a role for Hayden which I think would fit him very very good : a dude that has cancer or some terminal disease. Seriously the guy just looks and sounds sick. And I mean sick not the good way sick. I'll just give up watching films with this guy in 'em. Unless he plays some secondary role and only gets like 5 minutes of screen time (enough to go to the bathroom and buy a bag of Skittles on the way back)... I don't know man they just don't make movies like they used to! Cinema was just so lame lately that I think I'm gonna start downloading movies from torrents and stuff and not pay for any of this crap anymore. Unless you guys say it's worth watching of course.

As sweet as I wanted this movie to be, how good can it be with Hayden Christensen? I swear, he's always in the same angsty mood of yelling....it's so freaking annoying to hear him talk that it distracts from the movie. Matinee or rental.

Saw this a few days ago, thought it was average... Hayden Christensen simply isn't that good an actor in my opinion.

I was really dissapointed by this movie. I had much issues with the whole movie, such as the narration style (really boring, a start from the beginning), the whole use of childhood romance, and some characters had no contribution to the movie and were just there until they were killed. I'm not saying it's a bad movie, but it's not a good movie, and the ending of the movie was quite unsatisfactory. I give kudos to the special effects team, the stunt people, and the people responsible for the sounds and music, which was very cool when there were flying cars headed at sno-cone. The whole storyline is a drag, but at least in the stunt and fighting scenes is entertaining.

it would have been better if they teleport and save people and do heroic things and then are hunted like spiderman then the world would be after the paladins. Might see it for the spec effects

Do they address what would happen if you teleported where someone else was already standing? would the person standing there get 'gibbed' a la Quake? or would they fuse together like a mutant? I'm guessing this is the kind of film you have to shut your brain off to enjoy..

I'm surprised any minorities made it into this movie. Maybe next time one of us will be cast in the lead. I'll cross my fingers.

I was suprised to find out that my brother's friend was an extra in this movie. He said that Jackson showed up, did his lines, and left. Hayden showed up and took forever to do his acting. I don't know if it was because the filming took place in Canada (where Hayden was born) and he felt nervous infront of his fellow Canadians or what.
