I totally agree with Vincent, it appears that the people did not even read a book in the series. They wanted it to look more glamours so they moved it to California instead of having her in River Heights. This Nancy Drew has had all the interesting and original thoughts drained out and replaced by a "ghost" that only contains 1% of the original concept (the 1% is the name of the character). I honestly think that people would do much better by either i) reading the original books, ii) playing the Her Interactive Inc. games, and iii) checking out the DVD box sets of the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew series. Although the t.v. series was done in the '70s, it has all the right elements from the story combined together with amazing actors.

I totally agree with Korey and Leon that Emma Roberts cannot act and it brought the whole movie down. If they got someone like Sara Paxton (who can act and fits the part perfectly) than we would not have noticed that the plot line was so lame. I think that the movie is not as bad as Bratz but at the same time it appears that they are trying to cater to the pre-teen and under group. If people want some really Nancy Drew mysteries, I highly recommend the video game series by Her Interactive Inc. P.S. There is no way that Nancy would be able to do a lot of the things that she does at Emma Robert's age. It is basically trying to get children to believe they can do dangerous (things like getting rid of bombs and climbing the side of the building) and make the adults look dumb.
