The review was the only reason why I didn't wait to catch the dvd/ B Ray. I only wished I had seen it in 3d.

quite fun and i think they expanded the story well. i think franco and kunis were miscast though. franco was kinda hammy in the role and kunis is just a pretty face. i really dont think she worked as the wicked witch. the screaming and the anger didnt sound right. rachel weiss was much better as the evil one. both looked super hot
i thought the china doll girl was easily the best character. so sweet, the character i cared about most in this.

it had me really annoyed at the start in the black and white part that it wasnt widescreen saw it in 3d as well. i still find 3d films very hit and miss. some of the scenery when he was entering oz looked stunning but some sections the people looked like cut outs and when the action was too fast or too close to the screen it didnt work, just a blurry mess. maybe they need to increase the frame rate for 3d movies so its smoother? i dont know but i think the tech still needs improvement.
i thought the opening titles looked brilliant. loved the style and effect of the 3d in it

my only problem with this reveiw just like the audio is the bashing of tim burton....tim burton has a dark and gritty way of portraying his movies.  May not be as "pretty" as this movie but still just as affective, but what do ya expect from a team that would give district 9 a better than sex review lol

I need to get this off my chest, I am not the biggest fan of the original Wizard of Oz. Don't get me wrong, it's a good movie, but it falls flat in too many areas to me. This, however, finally got me interested in the mythos and got me hooked. Sam Raimi, you've done it. You've made an amazing prequel that's also it's own movie.

PROS: Great performances from all the actors, especially Mila Kunis. Visually BREATHTAKING with outstanding 3D effects. Subtle yet acceptable references to the original. Great origin stories for the characters. Plus, that China doll was a great character.

CONS: Mila Kunis's makeup when she (SPOILER) becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, could have looked a bit more rotten. (Yes, I know this take place YEARS before the 1939 film, so I get that she's younger, but it could have looked older). Also, if you thought that Return to Oz and the flying monkeys in the original were scary, you haven't seen ANYTHING.

FINAL SCORE: Visually breathtaking with great performances, amazing 3D effects and great story telling combine together to create a fantastic prequel. Besides a few minor flaws, this is a great start to the 2013 movie season. FULL PRICE!

Just saw the film. I'll let the guy who wrote the Batman Animated Series sum up how I feel about it in his Twitter review:

Paul Dini: Just saw "Oz the Mediocre and Puny." There is so much good original Oz material. Why keep sequal/prequaling that one MGM flick?

I loved the film, it felt nostalgic throughout.  If I had to make criticisms, James France didn't 100% sell me as Oz, Sam Raimi's camera angles were a bit sketchy at times, and I felt Mila Kunis didn't quite fit her character.  Overall though, I agree with the Full Price review! Well done!

One of the best reviews, guys!  The clips look great and can't wait to see the whole thing.  What did the spill crew think about the SyFy's O.Z. movie years ago, also?  Figured Cyrus and Leon probably got a chance to see it at least.

Can't wait to see this now, glad you guys thought so highly of it. But I did not hate Return to Oz as much as some OTHER people...it was an enjoyable fantasy film on it's own.

Oh, and now that Jeremy Jahns, Chris Stuckmann, The Flick Pick, Screenrant.com AND Spill.com have ALL given this film a very good rating, I have to (once again) call bullshit on the "official" critics. *caugh, Rotten Tomatoes, caugh*
