Big fan of the site, but you opened this review with an Eddie Murphy joke you acted like you wrote, and closed it with a rape endorsement. Brer Rabbit jokes were good though.

The hand held style of film making is nothing new with many marking the Blair Witch Project as the first, the first to play with this was in fact the 1980 Italian film Cannibal Holocaust. The Blair Witch was played out as found video footage filmed by a group of filming making a documentary. With the release came with some very smart viral advertising with ramp up the idea that this footage was in fact real. After the release of Blair Witch it was awhile till the hand held style made it return in the same success that the Blair Witch had with the 2008 monster epic Cloverfield ,which also had some very smart viral adverting in a different way . Before that film grace the big screen a UK film called The Zombie Dairies made it way to DVD followed soon after by George A Romero film Dairy of the dead. Even Before the Spanish film REC had major success in Spain before making it way to the UK and US some time after on DVD. Then in 2009 Paranormal Activity made it release to the big screen after show casing at a few film festivals. Once again this film played on the idea of found video footage, which unlike The Blair Witch had been edited for the purpose of the film. But alike the Blair Witch the film makers didn’t seem keen to try to ramp up the footage was in fact real. Even before, the Blair Witch video footage was push as real footage that was given a cinema release. Paranormal Activity was sold as so-call real footage that was given cinema release, they even drop all credits. And unlike films like Cloverfield and REC which were sold as films done in the style of found footage (notice the different) that where the problem lies. With dropping the credit they were playing with the idea the video footage was real but as it was given a cinema release and it was public knowledge that this was a film the whole idea seem a bit off. Where they trying a Blair Witch or where they trying a Cloverfield? I’m going with the first as there are many videos on the net of so-called real ghost footage (there more chance of these being real and they are free to watch, like paying to see The Simpsons movie) and maybe this was a idea they tried to pay with? The problem also didn’t just come from how the film was sold as; it also came mostly from the film it-self. The edited footage work well enough, much better than Dairies of the Dead had, but a few cuts that did work. The film followed a path of events right till the end of the movie that barely went off in a different path Day/night/day/night/looking around/day/night/looking around/night/The End. They get an okay job with building the haunting to the final takeover of the lead female but it done in such an easy way and to no true effect. The plot goes in a direction we all seen before. Anyone could see the end coming. The scares were either things moving or loud noises. They drop in some odd activity from the lead female and sound recordings but nothing new or original. My major problems with the scares were that they were all sign posted by a rumbling noise. Soon as you heard that you knew something was coming and so you were waiting for it. Soon as it happen you knew it was going to happen and what happened wasn’t even that scary ‘Oh look a door is moving on its own’. I could have jumps a lot of time but that rumbling kills all things off all shock factors. Was this rumble part of the ghost or was it a sound design put on during post? Either way it killed the whole point of the film, TO MAKE IT SCARY. The main characters were simple and normal which worked well with the film. They felt real, something most horror film fails at. But I still felt nothing for these characters as I was fully aware they were acting. I was often put off by the lead female boobs with seem to take my focus away but that was mostly because i was bored most of the time and they gave me something more interesting to think off he he, but I go off point. What i will say it was nice to watch a hand-held film which didn

This movie was just lame. The ghost or monster whatever was fucking kevin from Pixars Up. When I went to see this movie, the best part of the whole movie was when Katie lifted up her shirt and revealed bite marks on her side and some guy in the seat behind me yells, "SWINE FLU!"

All I want to know is: Why was this movie so funny? I died laughing when the ghost guy said fuck you i can't be in here it is too fucking haunted and when the guy was screaming at the ghost, in his high pitched scream saying Fuck you ghost!!! Me and my buddies laughed our asses off.

oh, one more thing, is it just me or does Satan only haunt hot girls with or without big boobs? because im starting to believe that Satan is a total pervert and he loves big boobs. he's got good tastes, but still a demonic pervert

im sorry, but this movie was a total piece of shit all the way and a waste of $7 (the $10 i paid for popcorn and drink weren't). all my friends saw this movie, telling me its scary, its all true and basically shitting themselves during the whole movie. but when i saw it i called them all a bunch a whiny bitches afterwards. its not scary, its not even spooky, and all the "ghost" stuff could be done with really good wire working. and im getting tired of all this movies saying their based on true stuff, when thats just movie makers typing bullcrap to make a quick buck. final call: this movie is just "SOME OLE BULLS**T" because if you want a movie where doors slamming and creepy voices makes you pee yourself, then wait till this fat sack of shit comes to cable. even then, don't watch it, because i still believe that the original black and white Night of the Dead is one of the scariest movies of all time, and that movie blows this one out of the fucking ball park with a rocket bat

Well, I finally got around to seeing this movie for myself. to put it short, I liked it alot. Yeah it did feel like I was watching something off Discovery channel, but when it was over I walked out thinking how all of the simplicity of the film worked for me. It was a fun movie. I think the guy who made this had a really good idea and I am glad it worked out for him.

This is a movie where i think is a bullshit because this movie is like watching an episode of forensic files. I can get more sexual satisfaction watching a show about how a murderer works.

As a fan of movies like Blair Witch I really loved this movie and all the jokes that guy jacked was hilarious because it was so spot on, and I got really freaked out, ashamed of admiting as I'm a man but when it comes to supernatural stuff I become pretty much of a pussy, They were alot more creative on the scares than I thought it would be actually, however I would've been way more scared if I were alone, because seeing this on the cinema just doesn't work, or at least not very well. Full Price IF your a Blair Witch project fan!

I dunno... I rather liked this movie. Sure, the actions of the characters were idiotic (at least the boyfriend's were), but for the most part I thought it was a well done psychologically creepy film. Its better than any other horror-type creep movie I've seen in years. That sequence with the bed sheet creeped the ever-loving hell out of me. But I do agree, in a crowd setting I was laughing, particularly when I had that stereotypical audience member screaming "GIRL! DON'T GO IN THERE! I TOLD YOU NOT TO GO IN THERE!"

I actually liked the movie. I'm not usually scared by paranormal stuff, but the ending had me bookin' it for the doors as soon as the credits were over. Granted, that might have had something to do with me being the only one in the theater.

I was so waiting for the ghostbusters to come bust through the door or something that would have made the movie much more fun to watch then what really was on there. Also not all couples are that dumb I mean I'd be gone before the credits started and all that there would be is an empty bed room for like an hour.
