    games never make good movies

    why?

because games like other surreal mediums such as comic's, cartoons and books can get away with higher level of suspension of disbelief via the rule of cool.....live actions on other hand have an expectation barrier of realism they never seem to quite surpass. There also often made with god awesome stories and more bothered about looking good rather than sounding right

Its not because of the game, unfortunately, because the image of middle-eastern people still the same since the beginning of "colored" motion pictures. people don't realize that the middle east have different ethnicities. i dont blame the game designers, they probably got it from the Hollywood's long history of generalizing a certain ethnic group to a half continent. By the way, even Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) was from the middle east (Jerusalem). from a region were people have colors. you can't draw a picture of him with a dark color...right.

@Jackal-Altair Then explain why the prince in the game "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" had darker skin than the main character of this movie? Don't say that it's just because it's a game, because Hollywood can find plenty of people with that dark of skin.

@Axel14100 the people you referring to are actually Arabs(semetics). Unlike Persians(Aryan), they're cucasian(white people). That is the misconception.

@Jackal-Altair Just a little darker skin than most of these people had. It was an entirely white cast except for some slaves, that was it.

"There should have been at least one Persian"?? how does a Persian look like then?? a lot of guys don't differentiate between Arabs and Persians!

Full Price. At first, I was going to give this a low Matinee, but once I saw the final time travel scene, that made up for EVERYTHING. It was so awesome. There should have been at least one Persian though, and it did confuse me on why he still married that bitch of a princess in the end instead of letting his brother take her. I mean, he just spent an entire movie complaining that she's a bitch, yet he still marries her.Maybe it explains it if I play the games. The gymnastics that Jake Gylenhal did were really good.

I don't know what you people have against this movie. I'm a big fan of the video games, and when I saw it in the theatre, I thought it was f**king stellar! Then I rented it and noticed a few flaws, but I'd still give it a solid Matinee at the very least. And I think it's totally unfair that critics are judging the movie based on Jake Gylenhal. I don't really know who he is, and I thought he did a good job in this movie. That's really all that matters.

I seriously think people from IMDB are getting paid for writing positive reviews. This movie is simply a waste of time. A fan movie could do a better job. This is a very low rental.

Hey, you really can't give this movie too much crap with it's average at best expectations. Mortal Kombat did pretty much the unthinkable with its confident story and wicked cool action and special effects. But could Prince of Persia step up to the plate and hit a video-game-adaptation homer? It got really close to Mortal Kombat greatness. Sure the script wasn't "Memento" caliber or anything like that, but hey this is one of those movies you can have some fun with, and look back and appreciate it for what it is. A Matinee gives the movie justice. (The whole "Asandsins" thing killed its chances for anything greater) PS: the Prince of Persia series for PS2 owns!!!

I've seen this movie. The game was excellent, almost perfect apart from the fighting. The movie though, WOW. For what was already in place, this movie did something amazing. It failed. There was a gigantic fan base, awesome storyline, and you know what the movie did? It totally FACEPLANTED. Seriously, the only part of this movie that was at all good was the Sand effect for when he was using the dagger. THAT'S IT. Rental at most. This totally pissed me off, I thought it'd be better.

I think I will check this movie out on Blu-ray when it comes out but I'm not gonna bother seeing it inthe cinema. That being said I actually think Jake Gyllenhaal is a good actor, maybe not this time though, oh well.

My lil bro likes the video game, but to me all it is is jumping around and talking. But this looked incredibly stupid from the trailer, but there's a small charm to it, that i'd say Very very low matine!

I thought that this movie was a step up from most video game movies but it still wasn't very good. I just found the movie to be forgettable. If you're just looking to pass the time it's a good watch but don't really expect anything more from it.

High Matinee. Lots of action, good acting and a bit of humor. Without a doubt the first good video game movie. Almost heals the pain from the Wing Commander and Max Payne movies!

Solid matinee. Honestly, allowing for the fact we get all sentimental about movies we saw and liked when we were younger, and allowing for how much better these graphics are (let's hear it for CGI), this movie is just about on a par with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Should appeal to the same folks and just about as well. Think about it. If Raiders of the Lost Ark came out today for the first time would it fare any better? People have gotten really oblivious to how much better (on average) movies are now than they used to be. Hollywood seems to finally be realizing what some of the basics of making decent movies are, starting with scripts. And yes, I know there are still endless exceptions to this with real clinkers being made and released every week. I also am not saying this movie could not have been better -- it is, however, better than it had to be.

well, i really enjoyed the movie, a high matinee / low full price. I wasn't really surprised to see a white guy acting as a Persian. There is a great deal of Persians(Iranians) that you can't even distinguish between them and the Europeans (or white people). i agree with "Wes" 's comment about Jake. Kingsly's actual parents are Indians and gemma in this looks like an arab woman.

I enjoyed watching it. So, I give it a matinee.

never played the game so I had no idea of the storyline or anything and I thought it was at least a high matinee maybe a full price.
